I saw this knife in the current issue of Knives Illustrated in an article on the SHOT show. It is a heavily built 3" bladed knife from emerson. It kind of reminds me of a Manix sort of knife.
 
i think there is a pic of the knife you speak of in the emerson forum. from what i saw , i want one . just a simple heavy duty knife.
 
could be the one mentioned above the CQC15 IIRC or a bullnose kerambit or commander kerambit, maybe.
 
Emerson is developing a knife with a blade length that is legal almost everywhere, but with a full-size handle. Not sure what it is going to be called, but those are the details.
