Hey guys had a quick question. I have a friend who has an emerson/benchmade cqc7. I was wondering how much the knife originally retailed for and what the cost would be for one today. Its real not a knock off it has the benchmade butterfly on the front with the emerson logo on the back stating emerson spec war cqc7 and ATS-34 on the bas near the hinge pin.

I don't know how much they originally retailed for, but my friend picked up one last year from a knife store that was closing up for $100.

Wow, I haven't seen one of those Benchmade 970's in quite a while. It was the very first Benchmade I bought back in 1995. If I remember correctly, I think I bought mine brand new for about $100 bucks. Not sure of what the actual MSRP was, but at the time it was the most I had ever paid for a knife and it pretty much got me hooked on the knife thing. It was very much a knife of the 1990's. Looking back I can't help to think how crude those 970's were compared to today's sleeker and more efficient knife designs, although the current Emerson CQC-7's aren't all that different from the old Benchmade CQC-7's in build. The design is a classic.

I think there was more then one version, there is the rare BM970ST with the titanium blade. The Benchmade BM975 has the ATS43 blade.
Those are collaboration and I'm not sure should be considered Emerson but more Benchmade if anything.
