I just bought an Emerson Spec War Model CQC7 ATS34 for 62 dollars, It is used but the blade was never used. Is this a good deal? I know nothing about this knife so any input would be nice.

I'd say you got a good deal @ $62. (How was $62 arrived at?) The SpecWar has been discontinued by Emerson recently - not for bad reasons though. Cool knife. What color handle and blade style did you score?

LOL. That's funny, man.:D

No..You got yourself a good knife. The tanto style blade. Emerson refers to it as their "B model blade". I prefer the "A" which is a clip point, but the tanto is useful enough. My 19 year old son has an Emerson very similar to your's....

Edit: A BENCHMADE Emerson. That's different. Benchmade knives used to be in collaboration with custom maker Ernie Emerson before he started EKI - his own business. While I'm not sure, that knife you bought might be worth well over $62.

No wonder the surprise of the moderator of that thread on the other forum....;)

You got my curiosity up. I'm going to see if I can find out anything regarding collector value. Maybe it's minimal, but I don't think there are many of those around. Could be mistaken.

BENCHMADE EMERSON CQC7, ATS-34 TANTO BLADE WITH AMBIDEXTROUS THUMB LUG, BLACK G10 HANDLES, TITANIUM LINERS, CLIP, ERNEST EMERSON DESIGN, BEAD BLASTED PLAIN EDGE, 4 ¾" CLOSED. Found that on the http://www.fwknifesales.com/bench.htm for 110 dollars. Is ATS-34 good steel?

Oh...I see. A site offering discontinued Benchmades. Not the official Benchmade site. I was looking over there thinking wtf? Ltd. Edition or something?

ATS-34 is a fine steel. Nice little blade you got there. I see the guy you bought it from was over at the Emerson forum also here on BFC.

So its a knife thats ok to carry everyday? Not a custom thing thats valuble? I am obviously a noob in the knife area.

No...it's not a custom. It's a discontinued production model back from before Emerson started up EKI. Go ahead and carry it and use it. That's what it was made for. Enjoy it! (Just don't go out and thrash it though ;) )

When I was considering buying the Emerson CQC 7, I came across several reviews that touted that the Benchmade version was actually better. I can't verify that as I only handled the Emerson issue. Very solid knife although smaller than it looks in ads.

Almost bought the Emerson CQC7 but forumites at the time convinced me to get a BM 710 instead. I have no regrets.

$62?? Man you got burned, It's only worth half of that, MAYBE, Well I feel bad, I mean your new to knives and all, I would hate for this to give you a bad taste in your mouth over buying knives on the internet. Hmm Ok, just b/c your new at this, I will give you your $62 + S/H for it and just write it off as a loss, then you can go buy yourself a new knife :D

Gee, that's awful nice of ya Thebadguy!

Since were being charitable DgrantD, if you ever get ripped off on a Microtech Socom Elite that way I'll sacrifice by taking that gawd awful POS off your hands too. It's the least I can do! ;)

Oh yeah, and throw in Spyderco Military, Gunting, Starmate, SOG Ti-Vision, BM Nimravus, Terzuola CQB, CRKT WASP SE, and custom Brian Tighe Tighe Tac...blechh...these knives are terrible too like the BM CQC7 and I'll take 'em off your hands! ;)

I too have a Emerson Spec War Model CQC7 with Benchmade USA on the blade.

I got mine about 5-6 years ago for $50 cause a guy needed cash badly(lucky me). Best $50 bucks I ever spent. These origanally sold for $125-$129

Its a good solid knife and I mainly carry it for protection

You certainly got a great deal their!
