Any thoughts on purchasing an emerson specwar a or b? Are they worth the purchase or is there another emerson that is better designed ?

There is no "better Emerson", It depends what model talk to YOU ;-)

I have been trying to get the funds together for one. If it was me , I would get the a model. I've had his tanto models which are sweet but the a is just a little more utilitarian for me.

I love the way the Specwars look. Good looking blade with an ergonomic looking handle. Personally I would choose a SOCFK. They look nearly identical but the SOCFK has a wave. Your miles may vary.

The Specwar is a very cool knife, i have the B blade, all Emerson's are fine designs. The specwar is a nice medium sized knife, about the same as a para 2. The handle is very nice and i think the B blade compliments the handle best with a very angular look overall.

I prefer the SOCFK-A myself. It's slightly longer than the 7, but has a more comfortable grip.

EKI has them for sale on their web site in a limited amount, why they did not put a "wave" on em I do not know.

Because they found old stock blades lying around from specwar knives, so they build some more to get rid of their stock, and the specwar knives originally did not come with a wave to my understanding. The SOCFK came later. Gooey man you are making me jealous with that regrind two tone thing going on.

You are correct

The reground SOCFK is an amazing cutter and slicer with that zero-ground hollow. That 20CP Para2 has been reprofiled to a zero convex and was among my sharpest knives for a while until I got a couple of zero-ground Emersons. They require more care and attention when using, but they're ridiculous.
