Emerson Steak Knife - BEGGING for custom scales

I just received my new steak knife, and my immediate thought was, "This screams custom knife scales." While I would like to keep the "neck" about the same (sheath considerations), I would like more contour in its middle. Obligatory pictures.

Flat slabs of material = "it's a feature."
Heck the slabs are not even flush with the tang = "it's another feature."

I do love Emerson designs, but it just grates me I can get better fit and finish and value from just about every other brand out there. Or spend MORE money to mod it!

I have to agree, but as I think about it, I have replaced or obtained custom scales for a lot of knives I own. I like the size of the Steak Knife for EDC so I'll happily place the effort into making as usable as possible with that in mind. Anyone have recommendations on scale makers/crafters?

For scales on Emersons, I've always used @fastltno1 on Instagram (Andrew Charlet) but he's getting super busier these days. He might be able to help.
I normally get contoured G10 or micarta scales for my Emerson folders from him but I actually send the knife so they can be flush with the liners.

Dont forget the steep almost scandi grind with a secondary bevel thicker than an opinel spine.
I mean its a nice sensible profile but the fit n finish is a bit "industrial" for me too.

I saw they made a folder version as well. Looks great! What material scales you thinking?
