Are there any suggestions if there are any alternatives to the Emerson Super CQC-7? They are currently out of stock. I like the style of it. Recommendations are appreciated.

Pro-tech makes an automatic version, Kershaw makes a licensed lower-cost clone. What is it that attracts you most? Is it the blade shape? If so, there are lots of american tanto styled blades out there.

I picked up a Kershaw CQC-8K a few years ago, wasn't impressed. It was cheap though, around $59 (Canadian). I keep it as a loaner.

Not only out of stock but unavailable in Canada😥.
Yeah pretty lame. I remember when Blades Canada stocked a bunch of Emerson models. Lots to choose from and then one day they just vanished from the website completely!

Willing to consider a Kershaw?

If so, you can select one of these: BHQ Kershaw-Emerson Knives.

ZT also made some Emerson variations -- the 0620 & 0640.

They have been discontinued and can be hard to find but, if you like them, you'll see them here and on EB and ACK from time to time.

Love the CQC-7! Think I would like it even better with the larger blade.

I'm wondering, why knives in Canada are about 1.5 times more expensive than in the US? Pick any knife and compare the prices on BHQ and Blades Canada, for example (not talking about sales)

I sometimes shop for knives I can't get in Canada at a reasonable price when we're in the US, or have them sent to a US relative. Of course, that's a PITA when you fly, since you have to check them in your luggage and pay the airline extra.
sounds like a good idear. I hear from a pal up there that the tax hits are kinda silly...plus the shipping costs....let alone the exchange rate part.

I'm always amazed more americans don't vacation over the border to take advantage of their 1 us dollar buying 1.38, as of today, worth of goods and services in Canada.

I'm also amazed how many Canadians come down here with their 1 CAD that only buys 0.73 worth of goods and services in America and spend a lot of money.

regardless im way off topic now.

back to the super cqc7 hunt....

Hunt may be over.

Also, sometimes the exchange washes out on some items and on others its cheaper up here than buying south.

Still wish someone would make a right-handed chisel grind similar to the CQC7. There was one limited production run a while back but nothing current that I'm aware of.
