Anyone buy one of these? How are these different than the collectors edition persian tactical...

how do they hold up?

Is it a true V grind? Or is the half chisel grind like all other emersons?

good or bad? Any other companies make simaler knives?

I hardly think the Scimitar qualifies as "more of a knife". It is less money, but you get what you pay for. The scales are FRN and the steel is of lesser quality.

IIRC, the Tactical Persian has a V-ground primary grind, and a chisel ground secondary bevel.

I believe the collectors edition was hand ground.

It is a pretty specialized design, and I doubt that it would be good for utility use.

Good luck.

Wow, I'm very interrested in the black, straight edge Scimitar! I love it, found it on a few sites at about $90 for the black blade one...

Anyone have any more info on the Cold steel scimitar? What kind of grind is it? V or chisel? Negative things to say about it?

Thanks!!

I got the special Emerson Collectors Association (ECA) edition of the Tactical Persian on the secondary market. It is a very specialized knife but it is really a beautiful and interesting item. Incredibly sharp. In fact, it is so sharp that I will only carry it when I get a belt sheath. Even though it is specialized, it would still make a reasonable light-duty carry knife for someone who works in an office. I have seen a number of ECA Tactical Persians for sale in this and other knife forums, especially the other knife forum that has a large concentration of Emerson collectors. Given the quality and availability of the special edition knife, I would take one of those over the production version.
