Someone's trying to bite off the commander, but they forgot the wave.
THIS IS MADNESS!!!

I just looked at the EKI website. In addition to the ones shown above, which are a waveless commander
a thumb discless(?) commander
a left handed commander (I believe Emerson left handed knives not only have the clip on the left side, but the liner lock in oriented to be closed with the left hand),
they also have green commanders, mach-1s, specwars and I believe ravens.
The prices appear to be the same as the regular production knives. I don't believe it said if these knives were serialized or not.

These are kind of novel. But who would want a commander without a wave? Oh well... to each his own.

Might this be the beginning of the custom production coming into fruition?

Correct. The left handed Commanders bodies are an exact mirror image.

As to "who would want a waveless Commander", there were some that did not understand the subtle genius of this feature back when it was first introduced and Ernie responded by producing, as I recall, a hundred or so waveless Commanders.

At the time I emailed Ernie requesting a diskless Commander, but got a nice email back saying that due to the way Commanders are made (laser cut blanks I assumed), this would not be possible. Glad to see a few got through.

I noticed those Commander variations and saw the discless one and thought "that's pretty cool" so in a quick moment of excitement I started to call Emerson and then stopped and thought "this is madness, if I really want a discless Commander then I'll just get a small screwdriver and remove the disc". There you go, discless Commander.
Donald.

Question: Who would want a Commander without a wave?

Answer: Me.

The wave is a cool feature and is especially cool when a wave sheath is employed. I would imagine that drawing the knife from this sort of rig increases reliabilty and control tremendously. I am sure that the knife works great for those who have the need for this feature.

I am just not one of those people. I dont need to engage my blade in that manner. Its just not necessary for me because I am not a high speed, low drag combatant.

I have probably drawn my Commander in wave mode from front pants pocket, strong side hundreds of times. With that in mind I say practice, practice, practice.

Safely clearing my own clothes and body while successfully engaging the knife blade is a skill. I think that if one plans on carrying the waved Commander as a defensive tool one should not be lulled into thinking that the wave in any way lessens the issue of the draw.

Any other forums members out there familiar with the Commander Two Step?
