Let me ask ya, Does Emerson offer a framelock with glass breaker? I have an Emerson/Zt collab and I gotta say Im digging the wave feature, m390 is nice. I dont Love the tanto gring.but its sharp as hell. what Im wondering is there a pure Emerson framelock out there?

Honestly I have tried to break out glass several times with a knife that had a "glass breaker" on one end. Found I had more success, with the tire iorn in my trunk. BTW the I tried and failed with was a Micro-Tech.

Maybe there was some special way to use the Micro-Tech, but it did not appear to have a learn curve. Hopefully some professional EMS folks who do this for for a living, breaking people out of cars.

I can tell you for certain, I have broken glass bottles with the butt end of my Super Karambit (split ring end).

As for factory, I couldn't find anything close. Maybe you might be able to ask a custom maker to fabricate a backspacer with a carbide tip embedded?

I saw a fella on IG and it was def an Emerson blade but it was Bolsterd Ti w/ a glass breaker. perhaps it was custom. thanx for the answer.

You sir, are in the wrong forum.

Really? How is this useful or helpful? or even correct?

Hmadmoo, aside from the two models that Benchwarmer380 named, I've never seen a stock production Emerson framelock. But I've not been too aware of the Emerson world until recently. I know that he used to, and maybe still does occasionally, make high end custom versions of his knives, but I think most of those are still liner locks. Most of the framelock Emersons you might have seen are customized production knives that have been converted.

I've also never seen an Emerson, stock or otherwise, with an integrated glass breaker. But I'm sure that you could find a fabricator to make an attachment or modified/replacement backspacer that includes one. If you don't mind, why do you want one? Just for kicks and neat-factor? or for the off-chance that you're caught in a sinking car? or are you a first responder that has a real chance to need one?

Its a gift for a fellw vet, that is a F.R. and think I would take one too, now that Im seeing the rarity of it. the HD-7 is what Im seeking and apparently I would have someone fab the hardened backspacer/GB.
Thanks guys, also is there a way to sub to a thread so u get updates?

A blade tip is a glassbreaker.

True, but you have to be careful. With glassbreakers it's all about the placement of the impact. Usually you want to hit the glass near a corner with about an inch or two from each edge.

You can get lucky with some other placement or items. But from experience, that's what I have found.

I have the Fox Knives FX-SOK09CM02B & FX-SOK09CM01E
COL MOSCHIN folders with licensed Emerson wave opening and glass breaker. Very smooth liner locks with 3.4" or 4.2" spear point blades of N690 with partial serrations.

Glass breakers on knives tend to jab me in the gut when I sit down. It also spoils my reverse grip. I carry a pen with a carbide glass breaker. Works great.

That's pretty much what I resorted to as well. I carry a Gerber Impromptu on duty.

Keep a ball bearing in your pocket, put between your fingers and slap the window.. now it's open. :-)
