I'm looking at getting yet another edc folder. I've been looking at Emerson because of the wave feature.
Has anyone had and Emerson and liked it? What Emerson would you recommend to me? BTW I like folders with a blade around 4".
Also I have been looking at the CQC-15 and the ETAK

Emerson's are amazing knives though a bit pricey I would highly recommend the Gentleman Jim.

I own a few emersons actually all emersons now just got rid of my last benchmade. You can never go wrong with an Emerson, I've owned striders CRK's and a few others but my emersons always end up in my pockets. Plus there customer service is amazing. Pick one up I'm sure you will be happy!

My entire knife collection is made of Emersons except two. I never carry the other two. Emersons are the perfect knife for me and I love everything about them. The CQC-15 was my first, it combines the best features of two Emerson flagship models so you get the best of both worlds. They aren't for everybody but you should at least give Emersons a try, I've been hooked on them for almost three years.

Check the exchange often. You can find some pretty good deals on Emersons.

I agree that they are a little pricey, but they're good knives nonetheless.

If you're really on the fence, you could pick up one of the Kershaw/Emerson collabs. I realize they're not the real deal, but they are Emerson designs at a fraction of the cost of an actual Emerson.

I have a small army of Emersons: a mini 15, CQC-7 Karambit, Combat Karambit, Super Karambit, Persian, CQC-7A and B, SOCFK, Horseman, and vintage Commander. They're all completely solid built knives that will take a beating and still ask for more. Until recently, my main carry was the Horseman. With the edge I put on it, it would cut a myriad of things; from poster board to tubing, to newspaper and scrap leather to meat for the crockpot. It only needs to be stropped from time to time to keep the edge. When I get a solid grip on it (or any of my Emersons for that matter), it doesn't go anywhere. It locks into the hand perfectly.

Get yourself an Emerson. You won't regret it. As for a recommendation, I say the Horseman, CQC-15, or the CQC-7A are practically perfect in terms of utility.

Emersons are sweet! I like the journeyman, vindicator and patriot. Just another option... The Southern Grind Bad Monkey. Inspired by Emerson and has licensed the wave opener. Cant go wrong with an Emerson though.

Fyi... Expect some lock stick on any titanium liner/frame lock that doesnt have a carbidized lockbar face or a steel insert. They require a break in.

Solid knives though fit n finish can be sketchy. Have a super cqc8 and love it. Stonewash is beautiful and blade shape is very versatile. Locks in your hand like it was born there. Wave feature is cool as hell, just practice it. Usually a few for sale here on BF for good prices and worst come to worst you could sell here too. Good luck and enjoy it when you finally pick yours.

Very solid knives. Easy to use and easy to maintain. I'd recommend the CQC15 for a 4" blade (3.9" actually). It's a very useful knife in a lot of roles... kind of like Emerson's version of the Para 2.

Has anyone had and Emerson and liked it?

They are constantly sold out and never advertise, so lots of people have and like them.

What Emerson would you recommend to me?

The classics are the CQC-7, Commander and CQC-8. Emerson designs are very different from one another, the only consistency is the materials and construction. For example, the standard CQC-8 fits my hand perfectly, but the standard Commander doesn't, however the Super Commander does fit me. You're better off handling them before purchasing, because it's a total crapshoot whether or not a specific model will fit your hand.

+1 on Emerson Knives. I have a bunch of them and while not the least expensive of their class - they deliver.

I am partial to the Horseman/CQC-8 series as my favorite but seem to carry my old SOCFK the most. As stated here, they fit in your hand from one model to the other does vary so you are best advised to handle them first.

Emerson knives may not be the biggest, baddest, fanciest, sexiest, cheapest, shiny est or whatever est, but they do deliver and have proven themselves over the test of time. Ernie and Mary are wonderful folk and great to deal with before and after the sale.

I have had more Emerson's than any knife brand, but I don't have any anymore (except a Le Griffe). They are nice knives, but for the price, I think could be a touch better. I really like the designs though, and they definitely have top notch ergonomics. If you are used to high-end stuff, exceptional fit and finish, or out of the box smoothness, you may want to look elsewhere. If you just want a bad-ass looking knife, that is sharp as hell, and you don't care about minor imperfections, then they should be right up your alley. In the four inch range, I would recommend the Super Roadhouse, Super Commander, or regular 8. That is just my opinion of course.
