that remindes me. I want to get a good folder for EDC and self defense. I am looking to spend around 200. I'm looking for something on the bigger side and I was thinking about the Super CQC-7 waved. I love the looks of the wave feature on the little clip on the site.http://www.emersonknives.com/videos/CQC-7.MPG Do these knives desereve the great reputation they have? I've never handled one. Or could someone think of something better for edc and self defence for 200.

I have a mini CQC-7 waved .. and yeah this is one tough mother.. I was never really fond of the chisel grind.. But this one has one me over.. even after that hard as nails bt coating gets all scratched up the cm154 blade will take on any task I ask it to .. It is one heck of a worker and there as soon as I draw it out of my front pocket.. Shhnap!!!!
I love that sound

Jeff

The CQC-7 is nice (it could use a more substantial guard though), but the Commander is even better, perfect ergos.

Here's a pic of my Mini-Commander:

And that's my "pimped" Mini-CQC-7 (no wave on this one):

I carry a cqc7a (drop point, V grind with secondary chisel bevel, no wave) most of the time, and it's a great knife. If the SHTF, I'd be glad I had it with me. Some people really don't like the liner lock, my cqc7a has never given me any reason to worry. I've been looking at the cqc10, and the mini-commander as well, but haven't picked one up yet.

a pic of my one and only Emerson. Very sharp. Quite impressed when it first arrived.

I have a Super CQC7. It's great, but for a max of $200 I think you have better options. The Super CQC7 isn't all that comfortable. The normal CQC7 feels better to me.

If I were you, I would try the Commander first, or something from Microtech, Spyderco (Manix?), Kershaw (Spec Bump?)or Benchmade (Skirmish?).
