I'm a long time lurker and live in the UK.
Emerson's are rare beasts in this neck of the woods.
I own a CQC7 B, waved and partially serrated (2013model).
It is a good looking, purposeful knife and currently is in immaculate condition. It is for this reason that it has remained a bit of a draw queen since I bought it 5months ago.
I would like to know how these knives look after regular use, I am particularly interested in how the cerakote blade coating wears. (Any pictures would be much appreciated)
I know these are hard use knives but I just need persuading that it's not going to end up looking worn and tired!
Thanks

I picked this one up used and most of the finish wear is from the previous owner, I think he had a little trouble with the front edge. Not the best picture, but it will give you an idea of what you can expect. As noted above, it's an Emerson, use it!

I've found that my coated Emersons that are used sparingly look worse than ones that are used constantly.

When used sparingly, little bits of finish chip on the corners, here and there, and really look bad because it's a small section of exposed steel on an otherwise perfectly coated knife.

Coated knives, that are used often, wear evenly along the edges and it looks really cool, like an old pair of jeans.

I have a 2012 mini-CQC15 that gets a good bit of carry and use. The only marks in the coating have come from using it to repair the railing on my front steps. I had to slip it between the post and the rail to scrape out old adhesive and smooth the wood so we could reattach the railing to the post. They are marks in the coating, they don't go all the way through the coating.

I'm with Rolf. Use it and don't worry about it. Knives that don't get a few use marks look... lonely... somehow.

It is perfectly legal to own the locking knives in the UK, just not to carry them on the street. This is why Emerson's are such rare beasts over here!
I use my locking folders around my private property and when I'm out and about I use the UK friendly knives that Spyderco produce.
