Anyone ever see Emerson Knives used as props in movies or TV? I remember a short-lived series called "Soldiers of Fortune" where Ravens were featured. Any others?

Spotted what looked like a pearl-handled "6" on a TV movie the other night. Fight was in a basement where the bad guy was chasing the good guy. Bad guy loses pistol, pulls knife, gives the good guy a slash, good guy hits bad guy w/ a board w/ a nail in it. Knife lays a *long* time on bad guys chest. Too sleepy to remember the movie.

On the CBS show, "CSI", I saw one of the characters using a CQC7B(Serrated, can't remember if it was BT or S).....

Scott Glenn uses a Full Dress CQC6 in one movie, I believe it "Night of the Running Man".

Edit:Glenn sees he's being followed and hides around the corner in an alley. As the BG comes around the corner, Glenn slashes him across the eyes. "Ahhhhh, you blinded me!!!" he screams. Glenn's responce as he walks away " . . . . So buy a dog"

James Belushi uses a Custom Dagger in another movie, something like "Angel's Dance"

G.I. Jane:

During the 'almost' sexual assault scene during SERE the Master Chief uses what I think is a CQC-7B SFS to cut Demented Moore's utility belt off, before she kicks the the senior SEALS a$$...yeah right!!!

RAYE,
Good eye for the knife and good review of the movie. What a piece of sh!t that was. From what I hear Black Hawk Down is the first movie to do any justice to the Special Operations community. Funny thing is, Ridley Scott directed both films.
Oh, I think the knife is a Benchmade because I believe GI Jane was shot in 1996 and released in 1997. I might be wrong though.

I just heard on the news that some are calling Black Hawk a "racist" movie. They say that it is not fair and does not give the Somalie side of the story. Man im pissed. I didn't hear any cries from these idiots when the Somalies were beating and draging soldiers bodies through the streets. Black Hawk is a good movie and portrays great acts of bravery by Delta and Ranger guys. Had to vent, this kind of B.S. is all too common, and as i said im pissed.

Ark:

You're probably right, I never factored in the dates. You only get a split second view of the blade, but the 'Master Chief' obviously practiced because he does a smooth closing.

kh, glad to hear the review. I'm chomping at the bit to see it next Friday, when it hits national release.

If folks are that upset about not representing the Somalian side of the story, they are free to make thier own damn movie!! F'm

RAYE,
I can't even remember seeing the knife that's why I said good eye. I was just speculating based only on the date of the movie.
Demi was interviewed around the release of the film and was talking about the trainning she conducted under the supervision of a couple of SEALs (I believe they were former).
She said it really sucked being cold and wet. She went on to say with certain disgust that while lying in the freezing surf at night she was told that peeing in your wet suit was not only OK, it was the only warmth she would feel.

In the Sci-Fi Show, Farscape, the main character (Crighton) packed a 7 during the first season.

Blackhawk Down

You guys should have known this would happen. The Media and certain special interest groups always run their mouth!

Somalians being starved by Warlords. Warlords with association to Osama Bin Laden, I might add. We know that now...that some Afghanis participated in that streetfighting. At least 60 Minutes got that part right...

America had no political interest there, no national security interests. We were simply trying to alleviate the suffering of starving people.

For this, we get baked and the people turning the oven on are Clinton supporters and...who sent us there?

Can't win, can you?

I sure as hell hope they are not saying that the Somali Warlords and their gunmen were not the "victims" of American Military Action. We smoked alot of them, GOOD. They were not victims, they were combatants.

Well, I've seen BHD...you've got to be more than a bit too sensitive to say that this is a racist movie. They call the Semalis "Skinnies" all the time, but well...I thought the military had derogatory names for the people in all the areas they spent time in (Japs in Japan, Krauts in Germany...and so on)...It was never said in a way that I thought it was racist.

As for the Bin Laden connection, I thought that the connection was the fact that some of the soldiers there were from Al Quida...that doesn't mean they are Afghans. In fact, most of the Al Quida fighters weren't from Afghanistan.

60 Minutes ran a story having to do with the movie, the incident and the Survivors of it...and it was stated that their were Afghanis involved...as this was another Jihad or Jihad waiting to happen.

They might have it wrong but I would not be surprised if these clowns were involved...

Don,

I think I saw the same show, but I thought they said Al Quida fighters...not surprising as that its been said that there are cells all over the world. I'd imagine that there'd be active cells where ever the US is involved, but I'm just speculating.

Anyhow, the movie was good...a little more time could have been spent on developing the characters...but it was better than I had expected, from the director and producer. I haven't read the book yet, I'm working backwards...reading Killing Pablo now. BHD is next.
