Emersons may have been used by Delta Force in taking out some terrorists

What makes you think an Emerson was used? Nothing in the article said anything about what they carried.

No, but that's why I said MAY... given how Ernie supplies some special forces with his knives, there's a good possibility. Just a fun thread.

This doesn't really change my opinion of Emerson knives..

Unless I had the opportunity to actually purchase a knife that had been used in combat and the provenance was documented, this doesn't want me to purchase one any more or any less.

Bingo one question fired, score was dead center in "X" ring. BTW many of our military buy equiptment to carry they personally like better than somer of the issued stuff. When I was in the U.S.M.C many of the Marines in my unit hung on to their M-14's over those M-16 aka Black Rifles.

NSN #s are held by many knives, including Gerber (06 auto), Spyderco, Strider (sadly), Benchmade among many others. While it certainly is possible an Emerson or more was present on this operation, many other types of knives certainly were as well. They could be anything from NSN unit purchased and Army issued to just whatever the individual Delta soldier just likes to carry.

Of course, the "hand to hand combat" could have also have consisted of an ill intentioned fist to the jaw of a jihadi.

Talk about a huge leap to a conclusion that may not even have involved a knife! :)

I have not been authorized by central command to release this information until now, but it is possible that Delta force operators may have worn Fruit of the Loom underwear when taking out some terrorists. This is totally bad axe, and makes me want to by some Fruit of the Loom undies ASAP.

Chuck Norris does not need to carry a knife, but if he did, it would be a CQC-7.

his is the CNorC-7 the blade is a chisel ground side shot of himself...that coupled with the ergonomic handle of the 7...comfortably cuts like a laser

you weren't already wearing them prior to this info release? wow, no wonder your kill count is so low.......

This thread is like many other threads in many other places on the internet is about equipment, and the factor that is the deal maker in most cases is preparation, training, in service training, refresher training, not what rifle, pistol, knife or bullet was used.

Also in most conflicts both good guys, and bad guys died. But the rule of thump is the more training, in service training, and refresher training one has the better chance one has to survive on the street, or in some far away land in a war zone, or in a police action. As that training becomes second nature, and you act without having to think out what to do.

Extremely unlikely that a folding knife was used in combat. As cool as they are, they're not practical fighters. Even the use of a fixed blade knife in today's world of such great
firearms would be rare. I worked for Delta's Eric Haney in the 1980's and I know as a fact that he would have used his pistols over a blade. Either way, to use a knife on the bad guy is just "The Shit"!:D

If you want to see what Knives the Military actually buys, and issues. A simple Google Search of GSA, will reveal the truth.

Troops are also allowed to carry what they want to buy on their own. My blade collection during military service:
Gerber Mark I
Randall Model 14 Attack
Buck 110
Valor Lockback and Mini Butterfly
