I saw instructions for a quick touch up sharpening job on Emerson's website and thought I'd give it a shot.

I bought the Smith's diamond sharpening steel from Walmart and used a bunch of jeweler's rouge on and old belt and my 2004 CQC11 took off my arm hair on the first go around. Incredible.

I found I got a better result going against the edge in both directions. I'm sold.

Super CQC8 here I come!

odd. i had this exact same experience yesterday. i've had my cqc-15 for a couple of months and ive never had to sharpen it because i barely used it. but i used it pretty hard yesterday morning. i wasn't a big fan of the chisel grind before last night. but after see how fast and easy it was to put a seriously scary edge on the knife, i'm fully converted.

whats this wheel you speak of?

I believe he said "steel," rather than "wheel."

I use my diamond rods from my Spyderco Sharpmaker freehand to sharpen my cqc7a

I have some cardboard, duct taped to my table for stropping

works well
