I am really enjoying the Emphasis so far. I have been carrying it everyday since it showed up. This is my first Chinese Spyderco (as far as I remember) and I’m actually really impressed with the fit and finish for the $50 price point.

The looks and ergonomics of the knife are great. I know people were afraid of the weight but you can’t even notice once it’s clipped to your pocket.

The only negative thing I can say is I wish that Ed Schempp and Eric got credit for this great design. Their names at least should have showed up in the paperwork.

Great job with this one, Spyderco.

I bought the Emphasis because I wanted to pair it with the Efficient that I always liked and upon which the Emphasis was based.

I was looking forward to receiving it. However, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed after I got it.

The larger size of the Emphasis makes it feel bulky in my pocket and the rounded profile of the blade and handle make it a bit awkward to hold. Also, while I like Spyderco's wire clips, I would have preferred that they used the same chrome clip as used on the Efficient so that they would look like they belonged to the same "family" of knives -- like the Persistence, Tenacious and Resilience line, which retains the same design elements in each knife, that I also own and now prefer over the Efficient & Emphasis in the economy end of Spyderco's lineup.

You can read further details about my opinion about the Emphasis in a comparison w/the Efficient and Native Chief: here.
