Heyo Guys:

Looking for any input concerning a bag for a large first-aid/trauma bag. I've got a lot a contents assembled, and I'm looking for anything that may be modular, such as PALS webbing on the inside, or any pouches on the inside. Basically, a toolbag, but for first aid. Lots of internal pockets that allow me to neatly organize.

Thanks!

Hi,

Are you trying to stock a first responder's rig, ambulance or your own private use? What kind of gear are you trying assemble?

Basically, I've got everything you need short of 02 administration and IV. While I now discourage most people from buying kits this large and in-depth due for technical reasons, I've previously over the years bought a number of medic bags and have now just recently assembled it into one comprehensive kit. However, my bad lacks dividing pockets. I've been looking at the Meret Series of bags and while impressive, $319 for just a bag seems very very very expensive.

Hi,

Yep, real jump bags cost real money. They lead a hard life sometimes. And generally no one bag will be suitable for holding everything. This is why on an ambulance we have different bags for different things and scenarios. Best would be to sort down and put the excess in the closet as resupply. Tailoring your bag for current needs.

A quick google for trauma bags will turn up a number of suppliers at various prices. But the ones I'd recommend for use are $100+. Look for heavy woven nylon fabric and the heaviest metal zippers you can get with a zippered top that can open completely wide open. Multiple compartments aren't all that necessary. It takes time to search each pocket if you are unfamiliar with your gear, the "which pocket did I put the BP cuff in?" problem. So one big compartment with a top that opens totally up can be easier to find things in. At least you can see everything inside. Small items can be stored in small bags that are clearly labled. Finger band-aids in one bag and prescription meds in another for example. But like I said, there is no one size fits all answer.

And for professional use, the Meret line is worth every penny. Materials and construction are first rate. They are what my service uses.
