It seems that many folks here don't have their email option enabled.
Some may not due to their paid membership lapsing and forgetting to enable email. Others may be new members that don't explore the "options" page leaving only "visitor message" as the only way to communicate. They may not even know there are visitor messages or where to find ones sent to them.
Is their anyway that all registered users email address be automatically enabled when anyone registers here?
