Anyone here have any experience with Enco band saws? They have one on sale for $200.00 and I'm thinking about getting it. The only thing I don't like is the 1/3 hp. motor. Do you guys think it will be strong enough for a first band saw? It has 3 speeds, dut I don't remember what they are off-hand. It's a vertical/horizontal saw.

I think that is the same hp as the HF model...Works well ..

If it's the same as HF which I think like rocketmann that it is, it will cut alot of steel. It just won't do it on the factory blade. I bought some lennox bi metal blades and have cut alot of steel without a single problem.

My enco saw, although a little bigger, has been touble free. But like has already been stated, its all in the blades.

I just got mine last week. same thing your looking at. Works fine, oh and I agree that you will nedd to get some more good blades.
as far as power goes, its fine, I cut through a 4" stack of 2" wide flats in one cut. nice and smooth, no binding or stalling the motor.
Thanks,
Del

I have the HF version and have been happy with it for the money. The factory blade lasted until the first contact with steel. Whatever the ads say, the motor is nowhere near 1 hp, probably the 1/3 hp Enco advertises. That motor eventually fried and I replaced it with a 3/4 hp motor from surplus center. Big improvement. The table is a little flimsy and the guide bearings are tapped into cast iron but on the whole, it's served me for a couple years of good use and it still going.
