When I clicked on the link you provided and saw this gentlemans face I thought "I don't think I've ever seen a happier person." He looked like quite a character and one you would want to know. 2 World Wars on top of that! Thanks and I am sure he will be missed terribly.

Old soldiers never die, they just slowly fade away.Rest in Peace.

What a long and wonderful life he must have had. He had the face of someone who is gong to have a good time, no matter what.

Enlisted at 14!!! Wow. Thanks for the link. God Bless him.

My uncle was with the A.E.F, [ allied expeditionary force ] . D uring the flu epidemic [ Hundreds of thousands died ] he was hospitalized & almost died . His entire squad was killed . He promised God he would serve Him & did . Bought 2 derelict houses, salvaged enough lumber to build a Sunday School & got a lot of kids headed in the right direction .
In his waning years my peers asked if he was my uncle. They said he made a big difference in thier lives
He died in my arms. I had his epitaph read

" AEF 1918"
"Served God & man "

Bless all of we who served .

Uncle Alan
