Congrat's DocH ...I'm glad you got the hat but maybe I'll get the next one, if there is a next one.

Oh, the Falcata makes yet another addition to the 'must have' list... :D

I missed the Cherokee Bowie again. I did not realize just how big and heavy it was, though. Is there a smaller, lighter bowie from HI?

Welcome Horn Dog!!
Everything comes in various sizes depending on which kami makes them and how they wanted to make them at the time.
you just have to watch these specials to find the one that fits you and calls your name. Or you can email Yangdu to see if she has one that fits your specifications laying around or can have one made for you.

Bonkers,

Ed knows my Fave. color is Purple, so he was thrilled to see the hat is the purple color... So now I will have one to allow the boys to share, (even if it is Too big...) and one for myself.

It was a a chance that he even saw it....... Ed was updating some stuff on my computer (spyware updates Ect.) and happened to click on the HI page I had open and just hit the reload and saw the DOTD... I think it was about 3 hours after Auntie Yangdu posted it.

I really do hope that another one comes up for you..... I feel bad That you missed out on this one.

Blessed Be,
Willow

The Bura Bowie is quite a bit smaller and lighter. However, you may be surprised at just how nimble the Rose is in hand. It's balanced very well.
The Bura bowie is shown here just under the Cherokee Rose:

I missed out on the Cherokee Rose again too... but heck, I haven't been here all week.

I've got a friend who is graduating this Spring and is headed off to the Army. I'm thinking it'd be a perfect graduation present (even have mom convinced). But the right one will come along. That is the great thing about DOTDs... your knife finds you :D.

Great looking hat Yangdu. I've got a similar one and it is toasty warm!

Thanks, CP. I have a big karda like the one on the bottom. Nice camp knife. I put a convex edge on mine.

Bonkers....

Seems like we BOTH missed out on the hat....

Well... I am one confused man... Thought we had asked to buy the hat in time... then found out it was sold....

But, at 44 years of age, am hoping I've learned a wee bit of patience. :)

'tis OK as as HI/Auntie Yangdu has been Very Kind to Our Household!

Ah the AK bowie, probably my hands down favorite HI product. I have owned 2 of them over the years plus the Munk Chunk Cleaver variation. However, as much as I absolutely love the design, others have needed a good bombproof more than myself and they ended up as gifts. If a wooden handled one came up on the deal of the day, the temptation might be too much for me to resist;)

My dream AK bowie would be wooden grip with a villager finish. Orrrr better yet, that scale on the blade look that a couple models have been coming with as of late. What a fantastic piece of steel those bowie are:thumbup:

Hiya Willow,

Seems it was not meant for either of us. I hope we are lucky in the future but now I know Purple is your color I hope you get one in that color.

Same here ... in fact too kind with the undeserved gifts which I have received from her generous heart.

My interest in Nepali headwear began with the Topi she recently sent me which has been perfect this summer but since I have started getting #1 crew cuts all year round (no gray hairs to be seen ;) ) Lucky's wool hat would be a boon come Winter.
