ending vine filework...

I'm doing some vine filework on a knife and it wont stop! How do you stop it? Do you just stop? or taper? or what? Thanks

Ol Bruce Evans has the best filework tutorial on his website. I can't file crap and after doing what he said...it turned out great. give it a try...

I taper it down and just stop where I have decided to.Pick the place first,then make the vine smaller and smaller till it reaches the spot.Have it end on one side or the other,not with a flat notch.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. And I agree that tutorial is great, it's what I'm using, but it doesnt say anything about ending it...

Go look around at knife pics with filework that you like, and see how it ends up.
You might have to look around a lot to find one that will appeal to you, or clear pictures of how others do theirs.

For what it's worth, I usually take it out to the tip of the blade. When the blade narrows you can gradually narrow the pattern and let the point be one last vine tip...
