Endura 4 and Pacific salt tip profile same? Some sites show the endura more stabby. Thanx

I'm on the fence between buying a fully serrated Endura 4 or The Pacific Salt. How about lock strength? I've read the Salt has a stronger lock but I don't know. I'm also thinking of buying the salt and modifying the tip. Any thoughts? I'd buy both but I'm trying to limit my knife purchases. I have a thing for serrated folders.

VG-10 is one of the more rust resistant stainless steels while, unless you want to be an idiot and leave your knife in a jar of battery acid overnight, H-1 is corrosion proof. Serrated H-1 also holds an edge better than serrated VG-10. The Pacific Salt uses an unlined FRN handle, so it will be lighter than an FRN Endura, which has nested stainless steel liners. Lock strength should be virtually identical, since both use 3mm blade stock. The Endura can be set up for tip up or tip down carry, Pac Salt only allows for tip up carry. As for modding the tip, you would not be the first to do it. Straight out of the box, no knife can fit everyone's lifestyle perfectly. It comes down to which characteristics are important to you.

Get the salt and modify the tip. If we are talking serrated I prefer the Pacific Salt to the Endura. Edge retention is excellent, H1 is very tough, corrosion proof, knife is lighter, and action is actually smoother on the salt without the liners. I modify the tips on all of my salts. Just tape off the blade and leave the steel you want to remove untaped. Only takes a few minutes with a grinder or belt. I've even done some with just a piece of 60 grit lying on a flat surface.

I'll probably go with the pacific. If someone would like to share how to reprofile the tip without losing the temper I'd greatly appreciate it. I usually wrap wet rags around small valves and fittings I'm brazing or soldering but that's another subject.

You answered my question before I asked it Surfingringo thanx man. Salt it is.

Here's an old thread I made. http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63261&hilit=Pacific+salt+mod

Probably a bit remedial but it might be helpful. I do the exact same technique when I use a grinder and then just finish it by hand on some 180 or 220. When I use a grinder I just keep a glass of water next to me and quench every few seconds. The tip will heat up on you real quick if you don't watch it. Have fun. :)
Here's how mine come out
