After recently acquiring a Spyderco Manix 2 LW, and reading a lot of SurfinGringo's posts in support of various spyderco's. Those of you who don't know him, he Kayak fishes in the Ocean. So I ordered an Endura 4 FFG to see if it can replace my Rat 1 for pocket time. Also have plans for a Salt 1, just because I live on the beach and kinda like the sound of Ocean Kayak fishing.

It's in St. Louis Mo. USA Earth right now, just a few more days.

Anyone have any pics they wanna show off while I wait.?

Sorry for some of the crappy pics, I will add more or change them later, and update with some thoughts after usage for awhile.

Nice. I have one w/ brown handles in my amazon cart right now that will match my delica 4. But I have not convinced myself to pull the trigger yet.

The Endura doesn't fit me as well as the Delica. The finger grooves don't line up right. It's a great knife though.

One of the greatest pound for pound larger folders Ive ever used. A true staple as far as Spyderco is concerned. The FFG is a dream for everyday light cutting chores. Wish they would make a sprint G10/CF/Glass/ZDP version, mmmmm :D

Plus a few IMO "inferior" mentioned folders :p

Here's a pic to give you size.

Endura
New Manix LWT S110V
Mini Manix
2nd Generation Manix 2
Delica

My Endura is gray too.

I love the Endura 4 handle shape. I could happily carry an Endura 4 for the rest of my days.....but luckily I have options :D

I've got a waved endura in the mail. I plan on playing around with it to see if I can make some interesting scales for it.

Endura is a great blade. I will take it over my Griptillian any day of the week.

My Endura is gray too.

Just slightly larger and a little slimmer than the Manix 2 LW, same overall size/length as the Rat 1, I think I can dig it.

I do love the Endura, but the Older Endura 3 fully serrated in ATS-55. If I could have only one, that would be it. It's a miniature pocket chainsaw, that cuts like a scalpel. Blade is sharpened on one side, and makes for a super sharp cutter.

In second place is the ZDP-189 FFG Endura, this is another one of Spydercos best Seki City produced knives. It's not a hard use knife, but this thing will cut and cut and cut for a long time.

In third place is the Pacific Salt fully serrated of course. Since H-1 steel is work hardened the edge retention on the SE model is out of this world. If you don't yet know, give one a try.

I am annoyed.....I misplaced my Endura Wave about six months ago. As soon as I come to the conclusion that it is forever MIA, I will have to buy another. That was the knife that got me back into Spyderco after many years.....and it went through a lot, as I did not have a rotation like I have now.

My next purchase was going to be a Salt 1, just to try out H1. I was looking to go plain edge though, just because I don't like serrations, and due to that I am not equipped to sharpen serrations.

Is H1 one of those steels that just benefits so greatly that I need to go FSE?

Like Rev said, because of the way h1 is hardened during the grinding process, the serrated models come out with a significantly harder edge and much better edge retention. I never liked serrations either but the se salts are something special. Get one! Highly recommended! And as far as sharpening goes, if you don't already have a sharpmaker then you most certainly need one. Brilliant tool that will make this little hobby a lot more fun. Serrations are a breeze to sharpen on the sm.

Congrats on the endura! :)
