Hello everyone. I was thinking about picking up an Endura 4 FRN in the foliage green. However, I've heard that the saber grind Endura 4s have a tendency to have vertical blade play. Can anyone who owns one confirm this? Or am I just being paranoid? Thanks.

Yes some Enduras has small blade play but trust me it's not an issue on it´s performance. A wonderful knife that will serve you years...

It's not just saber grind Enduras, or even all Enduras, many midlocks will have a small amount of vertical play.

Yeah, I had a feeling it was because of the lock. However, my Centofante 3 and Native don't have any blade play at all. So maybe it differs by model? I guess it doesn't really matter, because I'm gonna buy one regardless. spydie fever. It can't be stopped.

I have 4 E4s, all of them have slight verticle play, but its no big deal and the lock isnt going to break because of it

The play actually makes the lock stronger if I'm remembering an older post correctly. Its not a design feature in its self but a by product of the lock, nothing wrong with it at all.

The FFGs have a lot less vertical play than the saber grinds.
Or it might just be a coincidence, since there's no logical reason why that should be true. How many knives in your sample groups?

If you actually use a spydie midlock knife, more than likely it will have vertical play. Most people I talk with that have no play on their midlock's never use that particular knife. All mine have never had play out of the box, but it seems a day after using them it develops. However after years of using them this amount of play never purposed an issue.

I'd actually pay money to see an Endura (that is a user) that has no vertical play because I've yet to see it.

My reasoning would be there is less steel in the blade (lower weight) causing less wear to the actual locking mechanism every time it is opened. Who knows, that is about all I could come up with for a reason.

i have spydies older than many formites. i bought them as soon as they were put on market my brother convinced a large gun dealer to buy the sharpmakers when they were introduced at the houston shot show many years back & we followed up buying knives as soon as they were produced-- the police model. i carried the all black police for years.i still have some of the 1st enduras ever produced, none of mine or my friends have ever had a spydie lock fail. my nephews are some of the most abusive jknife users i know---no failures.
