Endura 4 tip of the blade

Hi,
After doing a little maintenance on my Endura 4 today I noticed how close the tip is to being exposed from the handle. The knife is all the way closed but the tip is only about 1mm away from sticking out of the handle. I have never sharpened the knife before, I just got it a little less than a month ago. Is it normal for the tip of the blade to be that shallow in the handle?

Thank you.

Yes, this is normal. The tip doesn't sit that far into the handle. I've carried mine with and without the clip and it's never opened in my pocket.

Endura is a good knife - well designed. It does not have that disproportion between the blade and the handle. They probably took it to the edge - but I have never had any problems and never heard of any incindents because of that "extreme" design. I think the only negative of it is that the blade area around the pivot looks a bit "scarce of metal" - if you understand what I mean...

The factory knives that i have have all come with a tip that was very close to the end of the handle.

Thank you guys. I was just a little concerned because when I wind up sharpening it, I don't want the tip to be exposed after from the removal of metal.

If the day comes, that you have sharpened it and notice the tip protruding above the handle, the common 'fix' for this is to VERY GENTLY file down the 'kick' at the rear of the blade, so it'll nestle down a little more into the handle. The key is to only take a tiny bit off, just enough to drop the tip below the handle. Don't take too much off. The 'kick' is the portion that extends below the ricasso, and serves as the 'stop' for the blade to rest against the backspring when closed.

I'm doubting you'll need to resort to that, so long as sharpening isn't too aggressive.
