What do you think? I thought the griptillian was a no brainer against the Endura 3. The Endura 4 is a significant upgrade, in my opinion. The griptillian is also upgraded with the use of 154CM. Which do you prefer? Why?

One question for starters: what about the fact that the 154CM Griptilian retails for somewhat more than the Endura 4? (Referring to street prices.)

Griptilian anyday.

1. Made in USA
2. 154CM (I like better than VG-10)
3. Axis lock
4. Choice of 2 blade styles (one with oval opener and one with stud)

Also, why is there a poll if we cannot vote on it?

My vote goes to the Griptillian. I feel this knife is the perfect definition of an all around good EDC for a great price.

Griptilian.

Main Reasons: Axis, ergos suit my hand better, made in USA.

It's a $65.00 knife, though.

If I'm spending $45.00, I'm buying the Endura 4.

True. The grip retails for $100 and the Endura 4 retails for $75. That could be a factor in choice.

I believe the software is set up so basic members can't vote in polls.

Both are great knives. But I'd pick the endura 4.

The big similarity is that both are high-quality zytel-handled knives with metal liners, and both come in quality steels (though the Grip gives more choices). But when I look at the main parts, the endura 4 keeps winning for me. The endura 4's blade is more useful both for EDC and defensive use, than any of the Grip's blade options, at least for me. The Endura's opening hole works better than the Grip's studs, and the fact that a waved endura 4 is coming really blows this category away. And both have good handles, but the endura's is so much slimmer and makes the knife much more carryable than the thick Grip. The Grip's sole advantage is the axis lock, but the endura's lock is well-done and will hold up to what I ask of it, so the advantages on blade shape, opening mechanism, and carryability rule the day for me.

That said, I don't think anyone makes a mistake in buying a Grip, it's a great knife.

I think that we could use a new thread when that happens; the wave really changes the nature of the underlying product

Endura, for all the reasons Joe said, and...

I ain't spendin' more than 50 bucks for a knife I plan on beating to death.

You're not talking big bucks and, frankly both are worth owning so, my advice is to go for both. I had the Endura first but, looking back I am every bit as fond of the Grip as I am of the Endura.

Its only my opinion but, the "waved" feature is mostly meaningless for every day general cutting chores. It has more value if you are buying a knife mostly for self-defence....I reckon.

The Endura 4 for me, slim profile and useful blade design. I like VG-10 steel over 154CM

I agree. Benchmade wins.

I like them both, and actually have both, but I like the Endura's blade a little more. Still, wouldn't trade my mini grip for anything, it's a dandy knife.

Joe

That says it for me too.

I prefer the Griptilian.

It has a better overall lock, easier opening, easier closing, is better looking, has better ergonomics, and a better grip pattern.

The Endura 4 has a better blade steel.

I prefer a knife to look good, feel good, and to open and close with ease than to hold an edge a little bit longer.

But like everyone is saying, they are both great. I just prefer the advantages of the Griptilian to the steel advantage of the Endura.

I've got an Endura 4 getting here in a week or so on passaround, so my mind may change, but right now I'm going to say Griptilian, because while my Gin-1, integral FRN clip Endura is a great knife, the Grip is one of those pieces that just fits my hand like it was custom made for me. The Endura is a great, slim, ergonomic knife, and I'll almost certainly be buying a waved E4, it's just too much knife not to own. But the Griptilian handle is one of those cases where I just got lucky in having a production knife that is just impossibly comfortable and feels undroppable.

I'll admit that's a pretty personal evaluation. :)

I'm waiting for my M2 rittergrip and the release of the waved spydies, the base models for both don't flip my switch.
