I was just thinking... I know, bad idea, right? :D

Anyways, does anybody know if you can take the H1 blade of a Pacific Salt and switch it out with the VG10 of an Endura, either regular or FFG, or vice versa? Theoretically, it should be possible, but I wonder if anyone has actually done it. It would be cool to have an H1 blade with the cool blue or green Endura handles, or maybe you dig the yellow or black handles with no steel liners for your Endura? Just wondering if it's possible, thanks in advance.

BTW, the Endura FFG is a fantastic EDC blade. As my first Spyderco, I'm ecstatic about it. Great job Sal!

I would think it would be a bad idea, since the Salt series are riveted and not screws as the Endura 4s and Delica 4s are. You would have to pretty much ruin the Pacific to get the blade out.

I do like the idea though.

It'd probably be a better idea to just find an Endura 3. It's got the same handle as the Pacific, but with a pointier hollow saber ground VG-10 blade.

They've been discontinued for a while, but a lot were made, and it shouldn't be too hard to find one in the usual places.

I think that would be a VERY challenging project. Why not just get a yellow handled Pacific Salt and dye the yellow to a different color. I have seen OD green produced from a yellow handle and I bet you could work out an orange color as well. I think the folks I read posts from where using Rye dye from the grocery store or big box store. Do a search and I bet you will come up with some very informative posts. This suggestion will obviously not add liners to your knife or allow for four way clip positions.

I'm in the process of putting the blade of a Salt 1 into the handle of a Delica. I basically had to destroy the Salt 1 handle to get the blade out. The pivot hole is smaller on the Salt 1 blade so I'm going to have to enlarge it with a some sort of drill in order to get it to fit in the pivot screw of the Delica. The really tricky part will be drilling the hole in the right position so that the lockbar engages correctly.

I'd imagine you'd have to do a similar method for swapping the Endura and Pacific Salt blade.

I can't imagine because that sounds like a terrible idea.

I would go with the recommended dye job if anything. Just because they look similar doesn't mean they are similar at all. Different handles, different lockbars, different tolerances, different knives.

Blades aren't car engines. You can't switch them in and out.

keep us all posted!

Well i acually did it on a Salt 1 and a Delica. Here is the main problem. The rivet hole on the blade H1 is much smaller then the hole that the Ednura/delica frame uses. So you will have to drill your H1 to match the Endura frame.

Next problem. the H1 blade is a bit thicker then the VG10 blade so you will need to grind it down if possible to be a better fit then mine. It was very tight with the Deilca frame since the Delica has liners in it. and hence a very tight open and close. Yet it still had a bit of play because the drilling was not perfect when i drilled the new hole.

does that make sense
