I need some quick advice. There is a local show this weekend, and I am torn between these 2. I have wanted and 806 for a while, but a guy at work had an endura the other day, and it was quite nice, especially at half the price of the 806. IIRC, the endura now has a VG10 blade, and a reversible clip for lefties like me. Uses would be an EDC, backed up by a Gerber multi-tool and Shrade 2 blade folder for office use. I would be getting the smooth edge version of the Endura.

The Endura is a great knife! The VG-10 steel is excellent, and the fact that the pocket-clip (on the FRN models) is reversible for us leftys is a definite plus.

That's the one to buy.:).

I'll second glockman99 on the Endura. The PE FRN with the VG-10 blade has become one of my favorite EDC's. Light weight, great lock, easy to open, and eye popping sharp out of the box. Backed up by great warranty service. In all fairness to Spyderco why is that so many people compare the clip it's to Benchmades costing twice the money? Why not through the Police, the Military, or another Spyderco model into the comparison?

806D2 by a long shot.

Get what your heart tells you or you'll never live it down and end up buying the 806 anyway. The extra $50 is a small price to pay for the differences.

Besides, the 806 is 100% lefty friendly and offers twice as many clip configurations.

I think you'll be happier with the 806D2. It's more tank-like. If the Endura is anything like the Delica, it's a much better slicer out of the box, but, with work, the 806D2 more than holds it own.

They are both great knives, I have both, AFCK is sturdier, as mentioned before, but Endura is slimmer and lighter, also, it slices bettter, so, whatever you are going to use it for will tell you which one you need.

This is yet another case where there is no bad choice you can make. :) The 806 is "fancier" and and it will stand up to prybar-style abuse better. The Endura is lighter, slimmer, and a somewhat better cutter. Both are more than tough enough, reliable enough, and effective enough for any practical purposes.

I really like the Endura for the money its a great knife. The AFCK is awsome. It's really not a fair comparison because your talking two knives in very different price ranges.

The AFCK is tapped on the other side to allow the pocket clip to be moved for lefty's so that shouldn't be a big concern. The AFCK like the Endura has a hole so no problems there and the axis lock is fully ambidextrious (SP?) both knives will work for lefty's.

Here is how I look at the AFCK: Is it my #1 carry - no that goes to my Cuda Maxx or sifu (I like BIG knives) what about carry in light weight clothes like business atire - no than I go for my Civilan. How about when camping/hunting- no then I take out the Buck Strider. Most comfortable ergonomic handle- no that goes to the Emerson.BUT all of the above mentioned knives I can find some thing I don't like or that I would change. I can't find anything wrong with the AFCK, it may not be the most excellant this or that but it does everything very well...if that makes any scense:confused:

I have had a couple of benchmades before, and like them pretty well. I did not like the recurve on the 710, but thats just me. I have never owned a spyderco knife. I know, its blasphemous, but true. My current aim is to have a 3" folder, a 4" folder, a multitool and a good fixed blade. With that in mind, I'm leaning toward a fully serrated delica, and the AFCK Axis. I have the other 2 covered with the gerber multi and a buck frontiersman. I really like the 806, and would probably get it eventually anyway. Thanks for the advice.

well i can't tell about the 806 but i can tell the spyderco *endura* is a great knife. got one with a 50/50 edge in my car for emergency uses (cutting seat belts, etc.) but whenever some serious cutting is at hand, it does just a very fine job. however: for edc it's just a little too big for my preferences, therefore i prefer the smaller *delica*.

regards, holger

I'd say they're in different classes. The endura is, IMO, the best lightweight inexpensive 4" folder bar none. It's a classic, and deservedly so.

The 806D2 is in another class, IMO. It deserves the higher price. In my opinion, it is one of the top 2 or 3 (arguably the best) 4"-blade production knives in the world, period, and I don't have to use qualifiers like 'lightweight' or 'inexpensive' this time.

Want to save some money and have a very lightweight easy-to-carry EDC? Endura. Don't mind spending more or carrying a knife that's bigger and heavier? Go with the 806D2 for sure.

I briefly owned an 806D2, but sold it because I didn't find the handle comfortable (too long and slim for my hands). But what didn't work for me might very well work for you. I will say that I found the 806D2 to be very well made, perfect fit and finish, no blade play and, of course, it has the axis lock. In that size and price range, I would prefer the Benchmade 710, but that, of course, is a question of personal taste. If you have a chance to handle the the 806D2, and if it feels comfortable, then by all means buy it. It's definitely a quality product. I've never really cottoned to plastic handled knives, and, while Spyderco is a well respected manufacturer, their light weight knives just don't do anything for me.

You have another option that is between the Endura and AFCK in price.
The knife is the TSEK AXIS, it is the AFCK with a wider and higher ground blade of 440C.

This knife cuts as well as the endura, is stronger and has the superior axis lock.

The 440c blade is plenty good in edge holding, ya its not D2 or VG-10 but in the real world you will not notice the difference.

This knife in the plain edge verson is also a very good looking knife, the bigger blade looks huge, kind of reminds me of my Socom Elite.

I have had a VG-10 Endura for a year and a half or so, and it is my ONLY EDC now. It's light, unobtrusive, opens and closes onhanded in the blink of an eye, almost totaly rust-proof, and cuts like a mother-in-laws tongue!

I considered the TSEK, but I think I favor the hole opener of the afck. Well, I'll have to see whats available tomorrow anyway. They may not have either. The dealers choices are sometimes limited.
