Endura Problems

I just recently received my new Endura (metal handles), but I have two problems:

(1) The action is pretty stiff. Since it is pinned together not screwed, is there a way to adjust it?

(2) The handle is a little thin for my tastes, not alot, just a little.

I was wondering if the Endura with the Zytel handle might solve both problems. Is the handle thicker? if so by how much? is the handle pinned together? is there a way to adjust the opening/closing action?

Thanks,
Eek

The stainless handles do loosen up after they have been worked open and close a few 1000 times. As far as thickness yes the l.w. ones are thicker and grippier and they also have the vg-10 blade steel.

lockbacks are usually stiffer than liners, but if you break it in, it'll be smoother.. recommend the use of lubes to help smoothen things for you.. ;)

Are the handles of the Endura Lightweight pinned on or are they attached with screws?

Thanks,

They are pinned. For the money, both the Endura and Endura II are phenomenal cutting machines.

By the way, I just got an Endura II also, just two or three weeks ago. My action was stiff as well, I just kept opening it up, which is fun of course, and with a little lube it is much smoother. I love this blade. It is just too cool.

You should give it another chance.

I have lubed it, its better but not nearly as smooth as I would like. How long before yours got "broke in" from opening & closing it??

I wanted to carry this every day as my primary SD blade but I need to be able to get it open a LOT faster.

Thanks!

I don't know how many openings it took to get my SS Harpy to open REALLY smoothly, but I'd say somewhere around 4hrs or working it. I would just watch TV opening and closing it one-handed. After a while it worked like butter.
P.S. Someone here suggested putting toothpaste into the lock area and working the action, which should supposedly get it opening smoothly faster. It did work miracles with SS Police, but it also left some very fine scratches, much more than on the Harpy, which was dry-opened. Use at our own risk.

If you want to smooth things out quickly, polishing the bearing surfaces will help. Take some metal polish on the end of a Q-tip and hit the back end of the blade; do not mess with the hollow that the lock engages. You may also notice some benefit from polishing the sides of the blade where it rubs the handle.

Toothpaste will do the same thing to a lesser extent. That is how some shooters smooth out the trigger pull on competition revolvers.
