OK. I like the serrations on the Military and Starmate alot better. Why are they different from the serrations on the police, and the endura? Does it have to do with where they are made (Japan vs. US) Or is it because of the type of steel used (ats-55 vs 440V) Or is it another reason?

Dennis,
I had the same question quite some time ago. It's a pity that the search capability is disabled, but here's a piece of the EMAIL that I've sent to Danelle on the subject:

"...the 16 degree angle does give an indication, thanks. However, I am STILL trying to figure out why the serrations on the Military are so "wavy" and "smooth", instead of being as "aggressive" and well-defined as on the Endura, for example? (the teeth on the Endura's serrations are MUCH sharper than those on the Military)..."

This message is dated 1April 1999. If you look through the archives here on BladeForums, you SHOULD be able to find the relevant thread.

Anyway, the answer to this question was basically that CPM440V, due to its higher carbon content (hence being harder), is also more brittle than ATS-55. The lateral strength of CPM440V is also lower than that of ATS-55, which means that the EXTREMELY agressive SpyderTeeth (as on the Endura) had to be modified to what you see on the Military.

I LIKE the new SpyderTeeth, myself!

Well, then again, I like ALL Spydies!!

I'll also search in the meantime and will post the link if I can find it...

SAL/DANELLE,
just ANOTHER reason for that FAQ, eh? Any word yet, Danelle?

BTW, how's the archiving going, MDP?

Heyns - I got the "go ahead" this morning. How did you plan to format this? Will you do the fact finding? Please keep me informed on plans. Always mo betta to see glitches before stepping in them. Thanx for the effort and offer.
