Endura Sprint Run: Is there any truth to this?

I must apologize prior to the post because I mean to either substantiate or quell a rumor and not spread it, and I tried searching the forum but to no avail.

Someone please put a rumor to rest. I've heard a fanciful yarn that The Best Knife Manufacturer in History is has done in house testing for an Emerson-style waved Endura sprint run. The rumor is that Spyderco is trying to find a way to license Ernest Emerson's wave and integrate it into a special run of Enduras. The rumor also says that the design would preserve my beloved Spyderhole and thus allow the user to choose how to open the knife.

I want this to be true. I so badly want this to be true. I would buy 2 of them at least and 6 total if I could find them over the course of several months. I kid you not.

A factory waved Emerson licensed Endura would be too awesome for words. I would cry for joy.

But it's too good to be true; still if any company would consider such a thing it would be Spyderco!

But then again I just bought 2 Manix's for crying out loud... Spyderco you keep my wallet empty no matter what.

It is true. But of course the outcome is not certain at this point (as fas as I've heard). There is no guarantee at this point that the knife will enter production.

Hey I'm just impressed there's even an effort being made to see if it's feasible. Spyderco continues to amaze me.

I am not holding my breath at any rate... I can see any number of things going wrong with this project. But wouldn't it be too cool?

I would buy one in a second! It would be wonderful to have a Waved Spyderco.

I'm waiting for Spyderco to license the entire Commander design (or maybe their Super CQC7) in the same way that Benchmade used to produce a CQC7 clone.

That would be the best of all worlds - Emerson style, looks and ergos, with a wave, an MBC rated compression lock, top quality blade steel, and Spyderco-sharp factory edge. Who could ask for more?

That combination would indeed be worthy of the title "best hard use knife in the world."

They've collaborated with Benchmade and Gerber, why not Spyderco?

Might even help Mr. Emerson to keep squeezing money out of his older models after the new ones become available. I think Spyderco and Emerson would both make a killing on it. (Can I say that on a knife forum?)

Check out this lengthy thread where this came about.

I'm with you DMW, I can't for this to happen. I was all ready to "wave" an endura myself until Sal started talking about doing a factory version. Now I'm waiting to see if Sal and Emerson can work out the licensing so I can have a Spydie made one.

I didn't even know what the "wave" feature was until I read the link MM posted. I found out how it works on the Emerson website and I must say it is very cool. It's like having a legal switch blade in your pocket. It would be awesome if that design would be incorporated into the Endura because I like SS handled knives and I like the shape of the blade on it and as DMW said it would be great because it would still have the Spyderhole. So if Spyderco came out with one I would probably buy two of them myself.
