Endura super blue patina?

I just ordered from New Graham an Endura w/ Super Blue. I see that this is a laminate blade, with the super blue exposed on the cutting edge, and maybe 420-J1 stainless (or whatever) on the outside.

So, does this mean that the .25" of exposed Super Blue will get patina, but the remainder of the blade will not? Thats what I'm thinking. Contrast that with the Caly 3 Super Blue, which I don't think is a laminate and gets a full patina throughout.

If anyone has an Endura Super Blue with a patina, I'd like to see it please. Thanks. I'm just curious.

Yes, the non-laminated bit will develop a patina.
And the laminate will show a bit of patina as well.

Not the best photo, but you should be able to see that the spine of the blade will patina in the center between the two 420j1 pieces.

I've never used a patina-coated blade for food prep, is it safe for that?

Cooks and butchers have used carbon steel blades with patina for a whole lot of years with no problems (as long as they are kept clean between uses). In would say use and enjoy!

That's a relief. Thanks, Scott. I ordered my first Endura, in Super Blue, this morning. I should receive it either tomorrow or Monday. I'm excited!

I use my Super Blue Endura for food prep regularly. It's developed a nice patina. Glad I've got nothing to worry about

Put a patina on my new Endura last night. My first attempt at a patina. Here are the results.

There's a little bit of orange discoloration where the text is stamped into the blade. Might this cause a problem later on?
