The clip on my endura is loose even tho I seldom use it - the one time I wore it to work caused a minor riot so it is deep in my pocket most of the time,
Since I'm nearly positive it's a pre-98 Endura, what Spyderco will usually do is grind off the plastic clip, and affix a three-screw metal one to the Zytel body. Of course, although you gain a tighter clip, you'll run the risk of stripping out the screw holes should you accidentally snag the clip hard on a foreign object.
Personally, I love the Spyderco plastic clip (until it breaks!), and find the reversible metal ones to be far less scratch-resistant than the Benchmade equivalents. However, I believe my plastic preference to be the minority.
In my experience, Spyderco even takes care of return shipping, although you should request that whoever works on the knife clearly marks on the customs slip that it has been repaired under warranty. Otherwise, such as a year or so back, when I sent in an Endura for repairs, Canadian Customs will charge you GST and levy a service charge as they assume it is a new knife.
If it's the 98 reversible style, the clip could work itself loose. My 98 Delica did that until I put on a little locktite on the threads, but the clip can still move back and forth in the recessed area where the clip sits.Does anyone think that the clip could spin all the way around if it got snagged on something?

I've had it for years so it must be pre-98, and it is not the steel model - just too hungry looking for my lifestyle, and it doesn't grip the pocket anymore...
Danelle,
I've had it a very long time, maybe 1991, so is there any warranty left?
I would be very careful about letting your Endura 98's clip get loose. I neglected my clip for awhile and it snagged on our couch at home. Pulled on the clip hard enough to deform the clip cut-out on the handle. Now even when tight the clip has some play due to the enlarged/mangled clip cut-out.
The clip can, and will deform the recess in the Zytel handle if you snag it hard enough. This causes the clip to partially rotate around the hollow screw holding the clip to the handle.
I suspect epoxying the clip to the handle would solve the rotation problem, but that defeats the purpose of an easily reversible clip. My solution when this happened to one of my two 98 Rescues was to switch the clip from the original right-handed side, which had started to rotate, around to the left-handed side.
I thus discovered the usefulness of a complementary left-handed full-serrated sheepsfoot. Of course, I'm taking full credit for this masterful stroke of genius, essentially doubling my knife-carrying capacity.
(yeah, yeah, I'm not quite up to the level of "James K. Mattis mandatory suspenders for pants support" just yet).
Sal or Danelle, does Spyderco have a warranty policy about this should the handle recess deform for both right, and left-handed clip modes?
