My buddy recently got a F-150 and went to change the oil and he cant get the stick out...any ideas on what could be wrong and how to fix it? thanks

The rubber seal is probably "stuck".

I haven't had one tear yet when I twist them out, but it is a possibility.

I've taken to applying a bit of dielectic silicone grease to the seals on dipsticks to prevent this problem.

What ever you do, DO NOT try to pull it out by force!!! It's best to just leave it in there and go IMMEDIATELY to the hospit.... Oh... wait... that's what you do if you are impaled in the chest or skull by a screwdriver or other foreign object...

Sorry.

(never mind)

ON EDIT: Probably best to have him trade the Ford in and buy a GMC.:D

(seriously... stuck seal. Try pulling the oil fill plug and then pop it back in HARD/quick... worked for a friend of mine).

Most dipstick tubes have an o ring at the top. Your friends vehicle probably hasn't had the oil changed in loooong time and the seal is dirty and stuck. Try spraying some penetrating oil around the top and twisting. Once you get it out check out the seal, you can replace it for cheap if it's really bad, but it's not a critical seal and can probably just clean it up and lube it with clean engine oil.

Glad he solved his problem. There isn't a Ford dealer within 2 hours of his location?

Oh yea there is a dealership...i thought you meant the one he bought it from. sorry lol

Warranty should be good at any dealership. Probably up to three years or 36K miles.
