That just about says it all. I was doing a search on ebay on the word "blank" in the knife section when it came up. I can't afford it but thought maybe someone here might want to check it out.
standard disclaimer: I don't work for the guy..don't know the guy ect.ect.

Well, to save everyone alot of time searching for it(like I did

) here's the full URL that will take you to it directly. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=236605657

Oh and Shappa, don't worry about the usual disclaimer thing Mr. Engnath has been deceased for a couple of years now.

I also cannot afford it, but boy do I wish I could.

Kisu, thanks for putting the full url up.
The disclaimer was for the guy selling the blade not for Bob's work.
The guy claims to have been there when the blade was made but doesn't know how to spell his name...

I noticed that too Tom. Like they say, buyer beware. That sure doesn't look like a bowie blade to me.

Hello,

In my opinion it doesnt look like an Engnath
blade Grind or profile. See that little tiny tang? Looks more like a middle eastern Cast piece to me,,,,,ive been wrong before.

Bod Engnath was a great guy,,and always willing to Talk knives and ideas.

my .02

See ya, Allen

I also ran across it while looking on ebay. I think its overpriced and I cant even see what pattern it is. Bruce

I emailed the seller. Heres what I said:
You really should do the man the honor of spelling his name right. It's Engnath, not Ingnath. Is the blade marked in any way and could you post a well lit picture please. I am very interested in this item. Take care! Michael

Heres the reply I got from him:
I apologize about the spelling of his name. I forget things in time. As
you know, he only ground blades and had no interest in finishing them. Even
the few he did finish, did he rarely mark.

Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of watching Mr. Engnath work, but have read about him. Most of what I have read said that unless the customer asked him not to, he did mark all his blades. I agree with Alan, I think this guy is shuckin us. If he sends me a better picture, I'll post it here so you guys can see it.
You also have to consider the seller's low feedback rating.12 is pretty low to invest in something like this.
Take care! Michael

On his Japanese style blade Bob Engnath marked the tangs. I knew Bob quite well and spent some time in his shop, also know his wife Stevie a real sweetheart. How much was this supposed Engnath Damascus piece. Also Bob has finished many, many blades, he was not only a grinder, I have a lovely shir saya mounted tanto of bobs.

I believe this is an Engnath blade. It is pictured on page 7 of Blades 'n' Stuff's last catalog. It is blade style #32 and is called "The One". It is Grind's version of Resin Bowies' Louisiana made, double ground but single edged fighting blade (quoting from the last catalog). Had a list price of $47.95 made from 440C. Bob's Damascus billets sold for $110 and for another $20 he would grind any of his styles from these billets. I emailed the seller and asked a few questions which he answered to my satisfaction. I cannot be sure it is an Engnath blade, but all signs point to it being so.

I have to agree with CKKnives, I thought it looked familiar when I saw it. I went out to my shop and looked it up in one of his catalogs that I have. I just looked it up on they site that has pictures of his blades and you'll find it in knife blank selection II.

I emailed the seller and asked for a better picture. Instead, he sent me a better picture of a similar blade. Doesn't make sense to me. If I was trying to sell a knife, I send pictures of that knife, not a similar one.

I used my own software and lightened up the picture some. You can see the blade alot better. What do you guys think?

CkKnives is current high bidder. He's obviously asked enough questions of the seller and done enough research to believe it's an engnath blade. I truly hope it is.
Just out of curiosity I hope you get it and let us know.
Best of luck
