I wonder what members have Buck knives that are engraved.I've managed to collect a few over the years.

Who else have Buck knives that are engraved or with scrimshaw or some other embellishment.

There are many different variations of engraving. Some are done by hand by skilled craftsmen, then are are some done by hand by unskilled folks. The results vary depending on the individuals art skills (I have and like them both). Then there are folks who use machines by hand and the results vary by skill levels. Also, there are so who have machines that are programed to do the engraving. Scrimshaw work can also be by hand or machine. I have some in my pile and like them all, the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Here is an old thread I did on this subject (so old none of my photos work anymore as they have all be moved).

Thanks JB.All three of these knives were engraved by the same woman. She studied in Italy to learn the art of engraving.

Her family have been in the gun business for many years and she always enjoyed looking at the firearms that came into the shop that were engraved.

Does this count?

What about this?

The Classic Series knives the Brass (rare) & Aluminum variations are coin struck not engraved. The scale blank like a coin black were placed into a die and an engraved plate/punch came down under high pressure and transferred the engraving to the scale Blank. Very cool process.

I know... just couldn't pass the opportunity... 😇

"Rare" as in perhaps 5 or 6, as I understand. But back then, who really counted, right?

That's a V1-V1..I've only seen a handful of 112's with a bail added. I was really excited to find not only a V1-V1 with a bail but decent engraving too.

I'll bet you were on that like pink on a princess

Looks nice guys. Engraving sure adds to a quality knife and makes it even nicer to pass down one day. Great to see so many kept in great condition. Seems today so many knives built with quality materials.

pjsjr YES I WAS! I kept raising my high bid first because my Brother said if I didn't bid enough he would and second because it was absolutely odd and fit my collection perfectly. Any collector of Bucks in general would bid at least a hundred but if you like odd 112's like I do I knew something like that just comes along once in great while. At the last minute a sniper came in and bid.. But not enough.

If you click on the pic of the 3 scrimed 112's it comes in focus. The two on the left are by 'Natalie' who at one time was working on Buck 315's with nautical themes according to a advertising in a national boating magazine. "WILBUR" the pig in the corn (far left) was at the time the most expensive 112's I had bid on in the bay. At the time the seller said he had bought it AT Buck but CJ and Chuck said not. The Elephant Ivory on the right was actually my first 112 David gave me and scrimed himself. I play harp and my nickname was 'Cottonmouth'..
