Engraved HI khuks on Knife Forums

I feel sad when somebody has to depart with his beloved due to some unavoidable circumstances!

Aaaah! Beautiful Khuks!

Darn, I wish I was buying instead of selling.... Those are beautiful. Would love to have all four.

I have a 27" Royal Banspati that's engraved on both sides of the blade and with Tashi Dill carving on the brass handles.
It's a beautiful piece, very solid, and somewhat heavy at that size.;)
I don't look at it often because I absolutely hate the smell of the brass handles that gets on my hands. Seems like even scrubbing them doesn't remove the smell.
I used Johnson's paste wax on the handles hoping that would help but it didn't.
It was made by Bura and kind of spendy, I don't know why I keep it. Perhaps because it is so beautiful. ;) :)

While I personally prefer the blade's surface not to be engraved, I do appreciate the beauty and quality of the work contained in the attachments. I do however, like the spine engraved, especially with inlays of brass or other metals. Did the engravers cited use hand tools as do HI's craftsmen, or did they avail themselves to power engraving tools? I've seen photos of antique khukuris contained within John Powell's articles that were highly refined and elegant, while remaining simple. Engraving is just another interesting facet of the hobby...
