This is new for me- this knife in Eggerling damascus has my own engraving on the bolsters. Don't be too harsh on me- I am just learning.

That is a beautiful knife! Not too much, but just enough embellishment. Know what I mean?

Just a side question about your photo background. Is that a pattern sheet? Where could I find such an item? Thanks, Lin

The colours blend so wonderfully on this knife. The engraving looks good to me. I do think a black sheath would look better.

Beautiful knife, beautiful engraving.
One small composition criticism, if I may.
If the engraving design were rotated clockwise, so that the longer bit were pointing towards the top rear corner of the bolster the overall design would flow a little better. Even if that longer bit were pointed at the pin.
The way it is positioned now, the eye is drawn to the large negative area that is the top rear portion of the bolster.

Again, picking nits. Easier to notice when looking at the completed piece, harder to see with the work in progress.
Then again, sometimes it's that little "kiss" that can really set a piece off.

Great engraving for a beginner :D

Thanks, guys- the background is a 12" x 12" sheet I bought at Michael's, a chain craft store here in Michigan. They have a wide variety, and many make excellent backgrounds for knife photos.

Really. Engraving is a difficult process to master in skill, and then there is the designing criteria. I forsee more good things coming from Michigan!
