I received this engraved rough rider knife as a gift and I'm curious if it was done by hand. Or is this just a style they offer? It came from a store somewhere in Chicago. There's a signature but I can't make it out. I recall it's inappropriate to ask for thoughts on price, so...thoughts? :)

Looks really well done. Like it! Did you pay much more for it than you would have without the scrimshaw?

IIRC, Gold members can ask questions about value irrespective of the forum. In my experience a lot of different artists scrimshaw low cost knives. I have an American Eagle brand small slipjoint with a cute rainbow trout going after a fly. Mine was done by a scrimshaw company in New England and was a gift as well.
