Just scored this beauty last night off the for sale forums:

$250 seems like a pretty good deal, right? Thanks fewpop! I broke my promise not to spend ANY money before blade -- but just could not pass this one up!

I have a question for you guys -- I know CRK can polish the blade (which i think would look really nice and dress the knife up quite a bit) -- but can they also "polish" the handle slabs? (I have a small african blackwood and the polished handles look so sweet.) I certainly don't want to LOSE the engraving -- I'm looking for a way to enhance it. It just seems like a really sweet engraving job to be on a plain sebenza.

Any comments/ideas would be appreciated! :D :D

Nice Score! I emailed about this one but I guess you beat me to it. The seller informed me it was already sold. Enjoy it, It looks great!

Nice scroll work! Great grab for the price. I'd contact the factory and ask about them polishing the handle. I wouldn't think it would be a problem. You might even email them the picture of it to get them a better idea of what they will have to do. Good luck! I'd like to see pix after the refurish job.

Great work!Great folder!

Great knife! I am not sure that the bead blasted handles can be polished though. I'd email CRK to find out. Either way, that is one-of-a-kind and very cool!

I'm glad you are pleased with your score. I'm about to go drop it off at the post office, so it should be in your hands pretty soon.

jryan76 - thanks for trying, but xaman's email arrived 1st.

I don't know anything about engraving or polishing, but I would think it could be difficult to polish close in to (or within) the engraving. I wish I could shed more light on the origin of the engraving, but the owner prior to myself did not know any more than I do about the engraving. If you look very, very closely just to the right of where the upper engraved "vine" meets the lower "vine", you will see what I assume is the engravers "mark" in the form of a "B". It would be interesting to see if anyone on the forums could shed some light on the engraving/engraver. It is beautiful work imho, and certainly makes for a one off Sebenza...Hope you enjoy it!

Regards All, :)

I'm rather sure it's the work of Brooks Burt. I remember because at some point in the past, somebody posted a pic of a Spyderco Delica or something with the same type of engraving, and a whole bunch of people got interested in it and I considered having something done by him too. I just looked it up with search and here is a link to his website: http://www.angelfire.com/wi/brooksburt/

It's kinda sad that I know that, the post I found is from the year 2000...

Wow! Jadis, you have a great memory. Thanks so much for providing this information. I find it very interesting to view the power of a public forum, and how information can be discovered and exchanged.

Mr. Burt sure does some beautiful work, doesn't he.

Who knows, maybe the prior owner of the Sebenza who requested the engraving will find their way here as well...must have been a fellow Sebenza lover.

Wow, that's a great lead! Thanks. I'll find out for sure.

Maybe I'll look into sending him a fixed blade to match up w/the folder...

I saw it just after it was posted.
You are lucky Blade is comeing.;)

I know what you mean! I wrestled over the decision for quite a few minutes -- for the very same reason -- i promised myself not to spend ANY more money on knives before blade. Honestly I was surprised it lasted that long too. :D

I did get an email from Brooks today and He confirmed he is the artist who engraved this knife! He's also willing to do a small and/or a fixed blade to match it! :D I'll have to give this some more thought once I get her in my hands...

Thanks guys!

Just arrived this afternoon and it's as gorgeous as I hoped!
