Engraving a SAK

Most of my friends find it strange that I collect knives and thus are not very interested in it. But I have one friend who says she was always fascinated by knives. The only thing is that she doesn't have the money to buy a knife.

So I want to buy her a SAK, to be precise a Victorinox Soldier and I want to let her name engrave in the blade.

But one question remains: will rust develop where the name is engraved?
 
I don't see any real concern for rust.
Another idea...You can get her one of the Pioneer series. They have an engraving panel on the scale.

The blade on a SAK is a softer but a more stainless mystery steel, and I have never seen a rusty SAK in any way. Since the SAK blades are solid, an engraving should have no effect on the "stainlessness".

Engrave her name on the panel provided on the scale. It is aluminum alloy, and can not rust.

Yesterday I bought two Soldiers: one for her and one for me ;)
Her birthday is in July, that is a good opportunity to give her the knife.

BTW: it doesn't have a panel on the scales for engraving. Maybe that is a difference between European / USA models?

If you are still interested check this sight out. They will engrave the blade or the scales.

They do a great job. When I got married I gave each groomsmen a Explorer with their initials on the scales with the silver fill.

The Soldier model does not have the engraving panel. The Pioneer series does.

Pioneers are not available in Europe (AFAIK), but thanks anyway for the information.
