Engraving a Strider....

Does anyone know if engraving a strider will harm the finish in any way. I know they are coated in something (I can't remember what).

I don't want to harm the finish of the blade by having a logo or initials engraved. It's not something I would try to do myself. There is a local place that does a great job on pistol slides and things of that nature.

Any ideas?
 
To my knowledge all Striders are finished by bead blasting. The stripes are just remnants of heat treat that aren't blasted.
 
That's a great FAQ, but unfortunately doesn't answer the question of whether or not engraving will harm the finish of the blade.

Any other help?
 
There is no coating on the blade. Engraving it will go through the rough and heat colored surface but it's all the same steel.
