How long did it take you to make this highly detailed piece of art?
I assume his hair and face were the most difficult part?

...I just notice something.:eek:
In the last two photo's there is a small line or something under the engraving that isn't present at the other pictures.
I hope it isn't a scratch or something? Or is it just your signature/dust.?

Question , when you inlay the gold , copper , etc , how do you make it stick to the steel ?
I mean , the inlay will never come off ?

I am master engraver to "strong water" with traditional technique of the nineteenth century. I am the only master engraver in Spain, which maintains a technique inherited from TOLEDO (Spain), and that I have improved independently for 24 years.

This engraving Viking, it is not done to "strong water" and is made with the technique of "drypoint" (special punch). It is a technique similar to Burin, but the cut on the metal occurs rebaba this rebaba may be left for work of printing (intaglio) or can be eliminated.

I hope to make successive prints of this type and combining the technique of "heavy water" with the technique of "drypoint.

Yo soy maestro grabador al “ agua fuerte “ con técnica tradicional del siglo XIX . Soy el único maestro grabador en España , que mantiene una técnica heredada de TOLEDO ( España ) y que he mejorado de manera autodidacta durante 24 años .

Este grabado vikingo , no está realizado al “ agua fuerte “ y está realizado con la técnica de “ punta seca “ ( punzón especial ) . Es una técnica similar al buril , pero al cortar sobre el metal se produce una rebaba , esta rebaba se puede dejar para trabajos de impresión en papel ( calcografía ) o se puede eliminar .

Espero hacer sucesivos grabados de este tipo y combinar la técnica del “ agua fuerte “ con la técnica de “ punta seca “ .

Referente a sus consultas diré :

Que el detalle del sombreado y dibujado del vikingo se consigue por aumento ( binoculares o microscopio ) y con un punzón muy fino , alrededor de 0,2 mm de diámetro , Este punzón se afila con aumento para conseguir una punta extremadamente fina , que consigue realizar un corte o trazo similar al buril más fino .

El grabado es en una sola cara .

La incrustación de metales nobles sobre otros metales , se denomina “ damasquinado “ . para incrustar un metal sobre otro metal , existen numerosas técnicas o procesos . La más utilizada es por medio de “ cola de milano “ . Se realiza un corte sobre el metal y después se hacen cortes laterales , para que la parte inferior sea más ancha y la parte superior sea más estrecha . De esta manera al golpear el metal ( oro , cobre , plata , etc ...) con un martillo y un botador , hace que el oro se incruste dentro de la ranura y ya no se pueda salir . Queda incrustado para siempre el oro en el acero .
