hello,
I recently had the opportunity to handle a couple of sebbies and i'm really impressed.
I'm looking forward to buy a large regular.
it is a big step for me since i've never spent more than 250 for a knife. On the other hand i buy new knives quite often so if after buying a sebenza i'll lock my plastics for two or three months i should be fine.
The hard thing will be convincing my wife..
.... last time i talked to her about this she told me to buy a benchmade and a glock instead..... my wife.... i love her so much! anyway i'm pretty sure a nice present could make her change point of view....:D

now, about my future purchase... I know that my sebbie must be large and regular. I really like the graphic ones but my dream would be go get a stonewashed blade with bead blasted handles and have a custom engraving done.
I have a silver box that my grandma gave to me when she was still alive.
It means a lot to me. It remembers me of her and grandpa and it had been brought back from japan by a family member (a sailor) more than 150 years ago.
i'm really proud of my family. All artists and adventurous people that travelled and worked around the globe and still kept the family together. this box is finely decorated and i would like to engrave the sebenza with the same style as a tribute to the family. I want this knife to be THE knife... the one i'll be passing on to the younger generation.

i don't think i want the knife to be anodized. just a plain engraving.
my question is, do you guys think is possible to have it done directly from Lisa at CRK? or do i have to contact an engraver?
if the work is done by a third party, will my warranty still be valid?
thank you for the inputs.

Tough question. I take it that the engraving is kanji, or a mon. Some mons are very simple, some are quite complex. For instance, my wife's family mon is 3 horizontal lines with a circle around it, while my family's mon is a very complex image depictiing wisteria leaves.

Call Heather to find out. If they're even accepting custom designs now days, some of her questions will probably be:

1) Does it look like something that CRK has done before? I doubt that they're accepting custom work that goes to Lisa unless it's similar to something she's done before.

2) Is the design digitized, and if so, is it made up of simple lines, or more on the order of more complex shapes? (if the image is digitized, they probably wouldn't have Lisa do the design -- one of the machinists would pull the design into their CAD program and drive a CNC mill that way)

3) Quantity -- custom design for just 1 knife is difficult for CRK to take time to do.

Best of luck on it.

BTW, the titanium is not difficult to engrave ,somewhere on the forum is a photo of the engraving I did on mine .

is your warranty still valid? I'll buy a sebenza also for the great service and i don't want to screw that...

thanks

You're actually worried about CRK's warranty, right? A call to Heather would provide clarity on that front.
