Hi I am new to the forums I looked around a bit and could not find a thread about this.
I am interested in engraving some blades. I have a Powermaster tool that goes about 400,000 - 500,000
as well as a medium speed that tops out a about 30,000
as well as a dremel.
If anyone has done this sort of think could you tell me what kind of bits you used, ie diamond, carbide, stone, etc...

Thanks for your help

It depends on the material, diamonds load up pretty bad on softer materials I'm even talking annealed steel here. Carbide is good for the softer stuff. Check out the makers area, lots of good guys with good info. Scrimshawing would also be something to look at for pointers.

Artwork is paramount. Tool control is second.
I have not used the ultra high speed rotary tools for engraving, but have seen some nice carving work done with them. Not sure how they work on steel.
