Breast cancer . My dearest Patricia .

It starts at left nipple & travels upward into the lymph node . I'm afraid it is in her left lung also.

Procedure 28 February. Seems like an eternity to me . She is comforted knowing I'm here for her.

I asked God for special dispensation because her prior life was so horrible & pleaded for her life in exchange for all the years I served Him by helping my fellow humans .

I am a bit ashamed of that but it is in His hands now .

Best wishes to your loved one.

I know several people who are breast cancer survivors. So although it may seem dire, there is good reason to be hopeful.

Wishing you the very best,
-Bob

With the exception of one friend who was in her 80's everyone I know that had breast cancer is alive and well now.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you two.

Our best wishes, too. Let us know if a card or something more substantial might help in the recovery.

Thoughts and prayers for you and Patricia. My Mom is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer so I can understand some of what you must be feeling. I sincerely wish the best for Patricia and may God grant you strength for her through this.

Uncle Alan,
Sorry to hear this my friend. I am sure you will be her rock in her time of need. She is lucky a guy like you cares enough to give a shit for the weak and hopeless.

Its a lesson we can all learn from you.

find a place to buy some pot-it will help her eat after chemo-a friends dad smoked and because of eating he lived quite awhile longer-

i know yo're not askn people for advice on how to handle this (most of the advice would probably be to unrealistic for you to follow anyhow)but if you need support, you sure found the right place to get it and i should know.
hopin' nuthi' but the best for ya,
i remain, me, dave and a few others

Hair loss ,dry mouth are only 2 of the possible after-effects I know of. Any help on others ?

Uncle Alan
There can be various side effects depending on the Chemotherapy or where they decide to irradiate. Hair loss, dry mouth, nausea, shortness of breath and general lethargy are the most common. Depending on what is necessary, Insurance will often pay for a wig and for breast reconstruction. Great meds are available to deal with nausea and the tiredness.

Once again, good luck and she is lucky to have a friend to stick by her.

Smoke and prayers for you and Patricia Uncle Alan.

I'm sure the Big guy's watchin' over ya both.

Real sorry to hear this, you and Patricia will be in my prayers.

rosconey2 is not wrong. My friend had cancer of the lymph glands and smoking marijuana returned his appetite which helped his immune system recover. I have no idea why.

God bless.

You and she will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Her body will be fighting to rebuiild, so be sure she gives it plenty of building blocks.

Her appetite will wane, and some old favorites may turn her stomach.

Cruciferous veggies are good for building blood.

When I was on chemo, I ate far better than I did before hand, or have since, but I think that it helped my bod rebound quicker.

They have many antiemetics out now. I found pot worked best for me, at the time, but that was over 20 years ago. I used it when I needed it, and stopped when I didn't. Definitely kept me from the major nausea and worse that I had before I started using it.

There are a few survivors on here, and while I can't speak for all, let me know if I can help.

A family history of multiple cancers, heart disease, diabetes, you name it has taught me that the disease itself can hit you with varying intensities, but the state your body's in makes a HUGE difference in how you fare.

My humble suggestion would be to get her in the best shape to fight it she can be.

If she can't run, have her jog. If she can't jog, have her walk. As often as possible.

Have her replace everything she's drinking with fruit juice, milk, and water, keep her on her vitamins (at least a multivitamin, calcium & iron too for women), and get her eating right.

I know it's dumb to think of an X minute mile and a cup of OJ beating cancer, but being hydrated, full of vitamins, and in good cardiovascular health makes your body stronger & more efficient at everything it does. I have several relatives who can testify to this, and several who can't.
