Enjoying my new Buck

I've collected a few knives over the years, mainly Case, though I've always heard the guys in our Troop talk about their Buck's. I was just surfing different Scouting sites one day and stumbled upon a mention of the Buck Eagle Scout folder. I was looking for something nice to give to my older son for his birthday and the custom engraved Buck 500 sounded perfect. So I called and ordered one for my son, complete with the date he earned his Eagle rank.

When it came I was extremely impressed. Solid construction, great fit and finish and made in the USA for a terrific price. When I saw my son's eyes light up when he opened the package I knew he'd be using it all the time and I was right. So I figured I would get a Buck myself, though I was looking more for a new style folder. So I bought a Vantage Avid and was not disappointed. Very nice knife, sharp out of the box and also made in the USA. I think I will be using this often for EDC.

Thumbs up to Buck for making reasonably priced USA made knives

Nice! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Zippo & Case, two proud Pennsylvania traditions.
Don't worry... I won't tell anyone that you've betrayed your PA heritage... ;)
Just kidding, welcome to the Buck section, hope they serve you well.

Fabulous gift idea. I'm an Eagle Scout, and father to a Cub Scout, and I'm buying my first 110 with an eye toward passing it on to him once he's, say, Star Scout. Your gift sounds excellent.

If I lived closer to the Zippo/Case plants I'd probably be in a lot of trouble!

I told all the leaders in our Troop about the Eagle Scout knife and I'm pretty sure at least 3 Eagles, past and present, are receiving custom Buck's this Christmas.

And I've been spending a bit too much time on Buck's website... :D
