Ok,Sirs,i had enough of it.
Every time i come back home and i empty my pockets (or my pants in general) i can find inside them:
Three different keyrings (home, office and car;in the home ring there is also a led light and a mini plier from sebertool,on the car keyring i have a V'nox minichamp),a wallet (usual stuff inside : money, documents, credit cards and a Spydercard just in case),a coin pouch (damn those euros....now coins in Italy have enouh value to try not to loose them),The knife i carry that day (name one from the smallest,e.g. sog sculptura or Spydie Cricket to their big brothers:Civilian,CS Kobun...),a cellphone and sometimes a pen if i don't put it into my briefcase.
Is there a better way to organize all this stuff ?

A bag is definitely the way to go. Many use Timbuk2, or Eagle or Hydrastorm or some such bag. I recently got a Hydrastorm Tactician from Javahed at Go Get 'Em Gear and I love it. Pretty much whatever works for you is the one to pick, but IMO a bag is the easiest way to get everything together.

Guyon- I assume you are talking to me. I'd rather not call it that, but essentially yes. I carry a backpack with everything I need in it.

Uhmmm.... are we talking about a man purse here?

You might also get a small belt pouch/sheath. You have a lot of stuff there but none of it is very big.

New Sun makes a few pouches that might work for you. Look at the Liberty Pouch or the Expedition Liberty Pouch. The Expedition Liberty Pouch should easily fit everything you have there.

Nite Ize makes a sheath that will fit a knife, pen, small flashlight and keys. That will get some of the load out of your pockets.

These are small and deiscrete and arn't 'man purses'.

Better a man purse than a man-ssiere. ;)

I've had good luck with small capacity backpacks (I don't carry briefcases.), usually in the 900-1200 cubic inch range.

I usually carry my wallet, folding money, keys, (luckily only one pared down ring with a Microlight) Surefire E2 and Sebenza in my pockets.

A sweather or light jacket, PDA, a book or magazines, a small medical kit (I'm a Medical First Responder, so you never know.), a bottle of water, my Surefire M3, and other jetsom and flotsom carry very well in the pack. The pack is versatile (can use it around town, hiking, or as an airline carry-on bag) and doesn't look like a man purse.

Thank you for your advice. I think a bag would be a nice idea, too, but i'd like to have it in a more "tactical" way.Does anybody out ther make something you can wear like a shoulder rig ?

Sure there is a better, more pratical way to "organize" the stuff in your
pockets. And you don't need a darn Manpurse either.

Elminate some of it.

Now I'm not being a smart pants here. I ,too, had the same problem not long
ago. So one day I laid my stuff on the bed and took ONLY what absolutely
had to have that day. I thinned out my keys (found some I forgot what they
went to I carried them so long). consolidated all my coins papermoney, credit cards
into one small pocketable coin pouch, then I picked out ( this is tough)
ONE multi blade pocket knife that could do most of my daily jobs to carry.
to that I added a bandana and a zippo pocket tape, and a multi tool.

When I was all done I found that I really didn't need all the junk I'd carried
for so long. I even threw my wallet away because I found that I didn't need it
either.

So if you really want to carry less.........do so.

Tightwad's right. You don't need all that stuff. Toss it in a drawer and if you decide you can't live without it, start carrying it again.

I think this thread started with your thoughts that you had to carry all the stuff you normally do, but paring down can really be a better idea than figuring a way to carry more stuff. To get down to my "high speed, low drag" carry, here was my system.

I got down to my "pocket carry" (folding money, wallet, Sebenza, small keyring, and E2) by doing my regular carry thing, and if I didn't need something after a day or two, I left it behind, or in the car, or in the office.

A keyring trick is to carry a small number of "strategic keys". My office key gets me to my desk, where I have other keyrings for specific cabinets and equipment. I usually only drive one car. Why carry fobs and multiple keys for others? I only carry one of those small "valet" keys for my wife's car. One key for each of the front and side door (different locks) of the house. Key for the garage and shed are in the house. Five keys and a Photon. That's it.

I skinnied out my wallet as well. I always wondered at how wallets get 1 to 1-1/2 inch thick. How many credit cards does one person need or use in a day? My change gets tossed into a jar at the end of the day. Receipts, ATM slips, business cards, are left at home or in the office. Do you really think you'll have to call Joe Schmoe from ACME Industries at 10:30 on a Saturday night? I have my ATM card, one personal credit card, my corporate card, driver's license, state MFR license, insurance card and one picture of wifey.

No PDAs, no cell phones. I don't need to be reminded of an appointment two weeks in the future (I don't have too many appointments or meetings), and I know the numbers of people I'd really want or need to call on a phone. I work close enough to home that I don't need to chat during the trip, and anyone who needs to get ahold of me can leave a message at either end, since I do check them frequently. I don't need a phone for my job, either. My wife and some of my friends always have their phones with them, so when we're together, if something happens that I really need a phone, I can borrow theirs, or find a public phone somewhere. They do still exist. Besides, I have little precious time of peace and quiet to just be left alone, why would I want to compromise that?

This is what worked for me when I decided to simplify my pocket carry. Again, I usually have a small pack in the car or something with extra "stuff" that I might need, so there's little reason to stuff it all in my pockets.

Besides, I'm not a caped crusader who needs a bat-belt to get through the day. I gave up chasing evil-doers a long time ago.

Camel Back, Blackhawk Industries, L.L. Bean and Eagle Creek have various small pack/shoulder bags that should meet the requirements of carrying around all that and more.

I do agree that the best thing to do is lighten the load whenever possible.

Sort keys to a single house key and single vehicle keys. If you have a keyed office, mine is a proximity key card in a picture badge, have one office key with you. Leave everything else in the office or at home. I have all my locks keyed to the same key, including my dad's house. If I need in somewhere I don't have to sort keys!

I now carry a lightweight miniwallet with 1 ATM/credit card and a company card, driver liscence, carry permit, and insurance card. I use a Spyderco C fiber Criket as a money clip.

The idea of dropping change in a jar/box/bowl at the end of the day has more going for it than just lightning the load. I typically have between 3 and 4 HUNDRED dollars in change at the end of the year in my change cache. This is enough for the annul change jar knife. Last year's knife was a customized William Henry Scalple. I waiting for Blade show to count the money this year. (I'm leaning heavily towards getting quarters as change for some reason ;) )

Ahh, the never ending quest to carry all your stuff...I've tried everything, bags, sholder rigs, pouches, fanny packs, back packs, man bags. I have so many bags...Never have found the right combination. Usally, I grab the appropriate bag and fill it with what I need for that day.

What bothers me most is having a bunch of stuff just floating around making a big uncomfortable lump in my pocket. What I do now is organize within my pockets. I bulit a holster that fits in my pocket that has elastic that can hold my knife and other stuff so it doesn't move around. I've also made kydex holders that I wear on my belt to hold things like spare batteries to free up my pocket space.

Does anybody out ther make something you can wear like a shoulder rig ?

JSP EQ bag. I have two of them and they are well made.

I have debated on this promblem too, and finally broke down to carry my answer to the "man purse" question. I had looked and looked and finally found a great little bag that can be hand carried and/or waist carry and/or shoulder (a modified shoulder) carry. I typicaly carry mine with the handle and carry the "extras" that I might need during the day.

It's from REI and is called the REI Micro Skinny
It is large enough to carry:
PDA
Leatherman Wave
Sure Fire HA E2
Fallkniven G1
lighter
15' 550 cord
band aids, neosporin
aspirin
"Shout" wipes for those spills
2-3 pens/pencils
and when needed: my wallet, daily pocket carry (Small Sebbie, E1, lip stuff, keys and key fobs with various lights, mini tool)

When needed I can replace the PDA with a KelTec P11 with no problems. The bag has the right number of pockets and velcro to make it quite flexible.

Hope that this helps...take the plunge into "man purse-ville" and getted joked by your wife/girlfriend liek the rest of us. They might tease you, but who do they rely on when they need something? You guessed it!

David :D
