Entertainment in your EDC kit?

I see lots of preparedness in edc kits on here, but rarely do I see anything with "entertainment" purposes. Something non-electronic. Ipods, smart phones, tablets, etc aren't what I'm talking about.

I usually carry a yo-yo to burn up time and keep me occupied. Often I will carry a sketch book as well. How about everyone else? Yo-yos, dice, cards, begleri, or other stuff. What all is in your kit? I suspect those with kids will be more apt to have something like this, but maybe not.

+1. It may not seem like it; but little things like that are crucial to maintain one's sanity. I keep a small solitaire game set (peg boards, pegs; 3 or 4 different games), a paperback, and a set of jacks (please don't laugh....it's more fun than we remember).

Edited to add: if your edc kit is for more than one person, there are several cloth wrap game sets (I have chess/checkers/backgamon, and parchesi...nice set; found it online). Those are easy to pack and give you a lot of entertainment "miles".

I have a "jump rope" I made from paracord, the handles are woven and since the cord is so light it doesn't work well alone I weighted it with several of the smallest size "super balls" that I drilled holes in, it provides the kids entertainment as is and if I would even need to take it apart for the cord it would still provide some entertainment from the bouncy balls.

Wait you guys carry this everyday?

Maybe I should bring something other than my phone.

I have a pocket book which I use to take notes and to doodle in, and my Case Stockman I use if I by some chance I have a penicl or a piece of wood near by to carve into. Mostly though I like to ponder my thoughts, keeps my mind active and from withering away.

Yes im more of a thinker. .. maybe too much.

Hmm I could keep a pack of playing cards on me.

In my small BOB, I have nothing for entertainment. Heck, I'm 58 and when I was a young hillbilly growing up in WV, all I needed was a stick or a rock or a pile of dirt to keep me busy. I'm not saying we were poor, but if I didn't wake up in the morning with a woody, I wouldn't of had anything to play with all day. And I played all...day...long.

I do not have as that much time to kill usually. If I do then I am on my phone or the more usual thing is playing with my knives as entertainment. So I would consider my knives entertainment.

I carry a yo-yo because it is a skill toy. It really helps me focus and builds dexterity along with hand-eye coordination. By taking this much focus, it completely frees my mind of whatever stress and worries I may have that day. Its not that I have hours a day every day to "play" but for the times I do, its nice to have.

I don't consider my knives a toy, and often times it's inappropriate for me to be flipping a knife. I use a knife many times through the day, everyday, its a tool. I may fondle a well worn slipjoint in my pocket as a worry stone, but that's about it.

I guess a balisong could be a skill toy though. Much like a zippo and its associated "tricks" as well.

Another entertainment piece of kit for me is a camera, a real one. I enjoy taking pictures and the challenge of photography, so most days I carry one of my many cameras. Often on my walk to work it will take me twice as long as I stroll through the park taking pics.

My entire impression of you up until now has been from over in the Political Arena—where you FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to take you seriously over there ever again! :)

That's what knives are for... among other things. Balisongs especially excellent in this department.

^^ Kevin!

Yeah, I do carry a slingshot sometimes when I'm going to be out and about, but its frowned upon to play with it in the building at work...
